Mandibular Symphysial Dislocation Successfully Managed! 🐾

Meet Apo, who came to Animal Doctors Veterinary Hospital with a mandibular symphysial dislocation due to trauma— a condition where the lower jaw bones separate at the midline, making it painful and difficult to eat.

Our surgical team carefully realigned the mandible and placed a cerclage wire to stabilize the bones and allow proper healing. 🩺✨

Thanks to timely intervention, Apo is now comfortable, recovering well, and will soon be back to eating normally. 💛🐶

📢 𝙴𝚊𝚛𝚜 𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎!! 📢

Meet Memo, a 2-year and 10-month-old male Shih Tzu mix, was brought in with 𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 and a noticeable build up of 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸-𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲.

Upon examination by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵, ear cytology revealed sloughed epithelial cells and a significant presence of Malassezia spp., a yeast commonly causing ear infections in dogs.

A thorough 𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 was performed, and appropriate 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 was initiated to manage the infection, which provided immediate relief and left Memo feeling much more comfortable.

This case highlights the importance of 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝘂𝗽𝘀 and 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, especially for breeds prone to ear issues like Shih Tzus. Early detection and proper care helps prevent infections and discomfort.

🩺 Feline Spinal Surgery Success: Feisty’s Journey to Recovery 🐾

In May 2025, Feisty, a young cat, was brought to Animal Doctors Veterinary Hospital with a severe spinal fracture resulting in deficits of proprioception and motor function. After comprehensive evaluation, our surgical team proceeded with spinal stabilization using pedicle screw fixation—a technique more commonly performed in canine patients and rarely in cats.

Three months post-operatively, Dr. Carla as seen in the video below that Feisty is showing remarkable neurological progress. She is now:
✔️ Regaining conscious proprioception
✔️ Demonstrating voluntary motor function
✔️ Beginning supported walking with assisted steps

This case highlights the expanding role of advanced spinal surgery techniques in feline neurology and reinforces the importance of early intervention, proper stabilization, and rehabilitative care in spinal trauma cases.

Meet Princess, a sweet female Aspin who was rescued and brought to us at Animal Doctors with a rare and serious condition — Peritoneopericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia (PPDH). This is a congenital defect where abdominal organs migrate into the pericardial sac around the heart, putting both the heart and lungs at risk. 😔💔

But Princess didn’t give up — and neither did we. 💪🐾

Our surgical team successfully performed a delicate and life-saving procedure to correct the hernia and restore her normal anatomy. 🏥✂️ After a careful recovery and lots of love, Princess is now on her way to a healthier, happier life!

We’re so proud of her resilience and honored to be part of her healing journey. 💖🐶
