⚠️ DIABETES, NANATILING IKALIMANG SANHI NG PAGKAMATAY NG MGA PILIPINO

‼️Ayon sa pag-aaral ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA, 2024), ang diabetes ang ika-5 na pangunahing sanhi ng mortality sa Pilipinas. Ilan sa mga itinuturong dahilan nito ay ang madalas at labis na pagkain at pag-inom ng matatamis.

LGU Talacogon, through the Talacogon Primary Care Facility, in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and the Department of Health (DOH), and in cooperation with the Provincial Health Office, successfully conducted a Free Chest X-ray activity to promote early detection of tuberculosis (TB) and other respiratory illnesses.

In a continued effort to make Universal Health Care (UHC) a reality, the Talacogon Primary Care Facility spearheaded the PhilHealth Konsulta Outreach, targeting the most vulnerable and underserved sectors of our community. 👥

Despite the UHC Law, many individuals remain unenrolled in PhilHealth, limiting their access to essential healthcare services like consultations, lab tests, and preventive packages.

Through this outreach, we aimed to:
🔍 Profile and register eligible non-members of PhilHealth
📝 Assist in filling out and submitting registration forms
📣 Raise awareness of EKonsulta benefits through group orientations and one-on-one discussions
🏠 Conduct house-to-house and on-site activities in key barangays
🎯 Prioritize support for low-income families

🤝 With the unified support of Barangay Health Workers, LGUs, and PhilHealth, this initiative strengthens our local health system and empowers every Talacognon to claim their right to quality primary care services.

💪✨Recognizing the vital role of young people in shaping a stronger, safer community, the Local Government Unit of Talacogon, led by Mayor Pauline Marie R. Masendo, RN, recently hosted a successful Youth Symposium. This crucial event focused on Drug Awareness, Mental Health, and Leadership, empowering student leaders to become agents of positive change.

🧠🎤The symposium featured key figures including Vice Mayor Elvin L. Maligsa and Municipal Administrator Ma’am Gina B. Gatab, alongside expert speakers: Agent Miko and Agent Diego from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), HEPO Designate and Mental Health Program Coordinator Designate Eric Jay T. Obeñita, RN from the Municipal Health Office of Talacogon, and Mario L. Campos, Vice President of ADSIPYO.

🗣️ The day's objectives were clear: to educate student leaders on the dangers of illegal drugs, promote the importance of mental health, and inspire responsible, active leadership within schools and communities.

💡 Student officers from SSLG, YES-O, and Barkada Kontra Droga organizations across Talacogon actively participated, demonstrating their commitment to these vital causes.

👏 We extend our sincere gratitude to all the student leaders and their supportive teachers for making this initiative a resounding success.

The Rural Health Unit of Talacogon successfully conducted the Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS) Cascade of Health Indicators on June 25–26, 2025, held at the Primary Care Facility Conference Hall.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ Participants included dedicated Nurses and Midwives from the Barangay Health Stations across Talacogon, who actively engaged in updating and aligning local health reporting with the latest FHSIS standards.

💡 This capacity-building activity aims to strengthen the accuracy and consistency of health data reporting, which is vital for evidence-based planning and improved delivery of primary health services in our municipality.
