PH TO CONFIRM IN 2 WEEKS IF NEW VIRUS VARIANT ALREADY HERE

JUST IN: The Philippines will know in the next 2 weeks if a highly infectious new coronavirus variant that surfaced in the United Kingdom is already in the country, a health expert said Wednesday.

Dr. Cynthia Saloma, executive director of the Philippine Genome Center, said they were checking samples of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in November and December and recent travelers who tested positive for the virus.

"Siguro 'yong definite na maisasagot ko is probably middle of January or first week of January ay malalaman natin kung meron tayo o wala," she told Teleradyo.

Saloma warned the public to brace for the possible entry of the mutated coronavirus, which scientists have said is 70 percent more transmissible.

SIUDAD SANG TALISAY MAY PINAKA DAMO NGA COVID-19 CASES SA PROBINSYA; MASS TESTING SA MGA CLOSE CONTACT GINPATIGAYON

May 250 ka mga ginakabig close contact sang mga nagpositibo sa COVID-19 sa Talisay City ang gina paidalom karon sa swab test sa public plaza sang siudad.

Suno kay Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon, ang City Health Officer sang Talisay, ang mga ginpaidalom sa mass testing nga ginsakdag sang LGU, sang probinsya kag sang 3rd District, mga close contact sang mga bag-o nga kaso sang COVID-19.

Sandig sa report sang Provincial Incident Management Team sang Negros Occidental sang Lunes, ang Talisay ang may pinaka madamo nga COVID-19 cases sa probinsya.

As of September 15, 8 am, sa report sang Talisay City Government may 301 ka kumpirmado nga kaso sang COVID-19 ang siudad.

“Ang bulk sang amon nga cases actually are those working in, ang aton exposure is from Bacolod. Damo kami workers from hospitals, from companies working in Bacolod nga dira naga stay sa amon. Working in Bacolod, pero may ara man mga close contacts na of those working in Bacolod, daw indi mo na ma-delineate kun sa Bacolod ang exposure or sa amon lang”, suno kay Guanzon.

Pero, magluwas sa mga close contacts may mga katapo man sang Bureau of Fire Protection nga na expose sa mga nag positibo kag ini sila ang malakip man sa ipaidalom sa swab test.

Kun indi maubos mapaidalom sa swab test subong nga adlaw, suno kay Guanzon, iga-accomodate ang nabilin sa Miyerkules tubtob sa Hwebes.
Ika duha na ini nga mass testing sa Talisay City.

Suno kay Dr. Guanzon ang halos kadam-an sa mga nagpositibo sa virus sa ginsakdag nga mass testing sang time-out weekend ang nakatapos na sa ila nga 14 day quarantine.

Samtang, ginsiling ni Mayor Neil Lizares, nga nag butang na sila sang hotline sa PNP angut sa kampanya nila kontra sa mga padayon nga naga supak sa health protocol kasubong sang wala naga gamit sang facemask kag naga supak sa quarantine protocols.

Suno kay Lizares, wala sila untat sa pagpahanumdom sa pumuluyo, para mapangapinan ang ila nga ikaayong lawas.
Pero sa gihapon, suno sa iya, may mga naga pasaway, gani ang siudad ang maga pasaka sang reklamo sa mga madakpan nga nagasupak.
Natalana nga magsapol sa Hwebes si Mayor Lizares sa mga punong barangay.

We have to file charges kay kun sawayon sila sang barangay kapitan sa barangay level , daw indi man mamati. Indi man masarangan sang PNP kay indi man ka patrol gid sa 27 barangays. Nag create kami sang hotline sang PNP kay we will file charges na lang gid sa mga tawo nga naga pasaway” suno kay Lizares.

Sa karon may 170 ka active cases ang siudad. 124 naman ang naka recover kag may pito nga napatay nga positibo sa COVID-19.
