โ„น๏ธLabor Day in the Philippines began as part of the global fight for workersโ€™ rights, but it has its own important history. On May 1, 1903, more than 100,000 Filipino workers marched from Tondo to Malacaรฑang to demand fair wages, better working conditions, and an end to colonial rule. This was led by the ๐˜œ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜–๐˜ฃ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ข ๐˜‹๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ข ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ ๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ด (๐˜œ๐˜–๐˜‹๐˜) and is considered the first Labor Day protest in the country.

Since then, May 1 has been observed as a day to celebrate workers and continue advocating for their rights. Up to today, it remains a time when workers gather and speak out for fair treatment, just compensation, and dignity in labor.
