Did you know? Polycoria
Polycoria is a rare eye condition where a person has more than one pupil in a single eye.
There are two types:
🔹 True polycoria – each pupil has its own muscle and can react to light independently (very rare)
🔹 Pseudo-polycoria – looks like multiple pupils, but only one is functional (more common)
Possible symptoms may include:
• Blurred vision
• Sensitivity to light
• Glare or halos
• Seeing double in one eye
• Some people may have no symptoms at all
🔍 How is it managed?
Treatment depends on how much it affects vision.
• Some cases don’t need treatment
• Special contact lenses can help reduce glare
• Surgery may be considered if vision is significantly affected
💡 Key takeaway:
Most cases of polycoria are harmless, but proper eye examination is important to ensure good visual health.
Always consult an eye care professional for proper diagnosis and management
