Some kittens are born with a rare condition called anasarca or “water baby syndrome.” 💧

These kittens appear very swollen because their bodies are filled with fluid. Sadly, most are stillborn (born without life) or do not survive long after birth.

⚠️ This condition is usually due to congenital problems during development in the womb. It’s important to know that it is not the fault of the mother cat or the pet owner.

💔 While heartbreaking, awareness of anasarca helps us understand that sometimes nature takes its own course.

🐾 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰?

A 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚 is a collection of clear, straw-colored fluid (serous fluid) that builds up under the skin, usually after trauma, surgery, or injury to tissues.

👉 In dogs, it often feels like a soft, fluid-filled swelling.
👉 It’s not pus (infection) or blood, but rather leakage of fluid from damaged small blood vessels and lymphatics.
👉 Most seromas are not dangerous and can resolve on their own, but large or persistent ones may need drainage or other management to prevent complications.

𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐃𝐨𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲

📌 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Patient presented with swelling on the head/neck region following a dog fight. On examination, the swelling was due to fluid accumulation (seroma/hematoma) secondary to trauma.

📌 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭:
• Careful monitoring of the swelling
• Drainage of fluid when indicated
• Anti-inflammatory and antibiotic therapy to prevent infection and aid healing

📌 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞:
As shown in the before-and-after photos, the swelling has significantly resolved with proper management, and the patient is now comfortable and recovering well. 🐾

Pinaniniwalaang nakuha nito ang sakit mula sa isa pang a*ong napaulat na nagwawala noong unang linggo ng Agosto.

Mahalagang tiyakin na ang ating mga alagang a*o at pusa ay bakunado laban sa rabies. Malaki ang maitutulong nito upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng sakit, lalo na kung hindi natin hinahayaan ang mga alaga na pakalat-kalat at makisalamuha sa ibang hayop sa lansangan.

Maaaring magpabakuna ng inyong mga alaga (3 buwang gulang pataas, malusog, at hindi buntis) nang libre sa City Veterinary Office na matatagpuan sa Brgy. Binauganan, sa harap ng bagong LTO building.

🛡️ Maging sigurado. Pabakunahan ang mga alaga, para protektado ang buong pamilya!

One year ago, the clinic doors opened carrying your mother… but it was too late. She was gone.

Minutes later, her fur parent called us, voice trembling, asking if we knew anyone who could adopt four tiny, 3-day-old puppies. She said she couldn’t bear to hear your cries, because each sound shattered her all over again.

Without a second thought, we said, “Kami na po sa clinic.”

For weeks, we woke up every few hours to feed you—like caring for newborn babies. Sleepless nights, countless feedings, and whispered prayers that you’d survive.

And now… you’re no longer fragile. You run, you play, and you fill every corner of the clinic—sometimes with joy, sometimes with chaos. You’ve become our little troublemakers… our miracles.

That day, you lost your mother.
But you gained a family.
