Just as we stand in our core values,
Entering this milestone is momentous.
Counting our fair share of hahas and huhus,
Surely by His sufficient grace we can deduce.
Onward we continue to focus,
Nobly serving and treating patients in all issues.
So as we thrive, blessed to be in year two 2s. πŸ’š

Aha moment πŸ’‘, Sweetest Day is every October 21 (last Saturday). It is a day to be sweet by sharing a kind thought, a small gift or a gesture of kindness. It’s a day to give a card with a sweet message to someone you appreciate. Little gifts of candy and other sweets are shared, as well. (From National Today website)

And today as we start this week, in Radiation Oncology Department, this sweet gesture caught us by surprise! Thank you very much po. πŸ₯°πŸ©·

Feel free to message if you would want us to be part of your cancer journey. πŸ’œ

Survive comes from the Latin word β€œvivere”, which means β€œto live”. A cancer survivor is a person engaged in the process of living with, through and beyond cancer. In addition, because cancer also affects family members, friends and caregivers, they too are considered cancer survivors. ❀️

We see your strength. πŸ”—
We admire your courage. 🌳
We respect your stories. πŸ’¬
We celebrate you. πŸ€—

Radiation Oncology Department at Jecsons Medical Center

Jecsons Medical Center’s newest department in Radiation Oncology houses the Varian Clinac CX, a high-performance Linear Accelerator (LINAC) with sophisticated technology that delivers advanced cancer treatments. It is the first LINAC in Tarlac, and second in Central Luzon. The department offers targeted radiation therapy treatments including Three-dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy (3DCRT) and Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT).

A LINAC produces high energy photons and electrons with high level of accuracy and precision. These photons and electrons pe*****te patient tissues and initiate series of biological events that, if used properly, leads to cancer cell death. External beam radiation therapy is a process that uses LINAC to provide treatments for both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors.

With the use of Multi-Leaf Collimators (MLC), LINAC delivers radiation beams that can be modified to conform to the shape of the tumor. In order to deliver these beams with precise and accurate results, state-of-the-art immobilization devices specific to each patient are available. These devices are designed to prevent unnecessary movements, and to avoid day-to-day patient positioning and set-up variation while maintaining patient comfort.

The department also utilizes Siemens 16-slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner with a newly installed LAP laser system for patient alignment and virtual simulation. The CT scanner produces high resolution axial images used for tumor localization and identification of critical organs. Based on these images, the amount of radiation necessary to achieve the treatment goal will be calculated using Varian Eclipse Treatment Planning System (TPS). Eclipse is an advanced planning environment using variety of dose algorithms to deliver accurate radiation dose calculations for safe and effective delivery of treatments.
