Casa Mellifera is located beside Tungtong River. As a child, the owner spent his afternoons everyday catching fish, insects, turtles, frogs and even snakes in the river. He even used to swim in it with his siblings and friends. Many years since, Tungtong still supports the local wildlife including river residents such as gobies, crabs, shrimp, fishing spiders and snails. These are among the many species that still rely on the river for survival.
The Tungtong River was first classified as a βcreekβ in the government records of the municipality of Taytay. This perennial river is located in and around the area of the Beverly Hills Subdivision in Taytay, Rizal (in Region IV-A CALABARZON). It stectches for 15 kilometers and it is connected to the Pasig River by means of the Manggahan floodway.
Through Casa Mellifera you can have access to the river to explore and enjoy. We discourage bathing in it though as it is not as clean as it used to be 20-30 years ago when there were few human settlements by the river.
Whenever it rains, we need to clean up garbage and trash. This river is our responsibility. We will take care of it as best as we can.
