The Toledo City General Hospital was officially created on March 20, 1972, under the incumbency of Honorable Mayor Marcelo A. Barba, by the City Ordinance Number 115 – "An Ordinance establishing Toledo City General Hospital and appropriating funds for its creation and operation to be taken from statutory contributions under Republic Act 1939". The Toledo City Hospital is under the direct administrative supervision of the Chief of Hospital subject only to the authority of the City Mayor of Toledo City.
It is a 12-bed capacity Primary Hospital under the Local Government Unit of Toledo City and serves the primary catchment population of the thirty eight (38) barangays of Toledo City and the municipalities of Aloguinsan and Pinamungajan, as well. It is located fifty six (56) kilometers south of Cebu.
