Infection Prevention and Control Week Celebration 2025

We proudly joined the global observance of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week last July 9, 2025, a vital reminder of how everyday actions, like proper hand hygiene, safe waste disposal, and correct use of PPE can save lives and protect communities. IPC plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of infections in healthcare settings, especially for vulnerable individuals.

We were honored to have a meaningful and empowering discussion led by our esteemed resource persons: Ms. Elma R. Morales from Trece Martires City Health Office, Ms. Monalyn M. Ilog, and Mr. Mar Clyde D. Villaviray, Disease Surveillance Officers from DOH Cavite Office.

Their knowledge and passion shed light on the why and how of effective infection prevention, inspiring all of us to be vigilant health advocates.

To further highlight the importance of IPC, the DATRC CALABARZON staff showcased their creativity and advocacy through a mini-photojournalism contest, capturing powerful moments and messages that reflect the true essence of infection control.

Let’s continue to champion IPC—not just this week, but every day. A safer, healthier tomorrow begins with you.

Pride Month Celebration 2025

This year, we proudly embrace the theme: “Love Loud, Love Safe.”

It’s more than a slogan, it’s a call to action. To love loud means celebrating our authentic selves without fear or shame, standing in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, and making every voice heard. To love safe means ensuring our spaces, relationships, and communities are rooted in respect, protection, acceptance, and mental well-being for all.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Maria Christina Capacete, Nurse II of Tagaytay Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, for her eye-opening and deeply relevant discussion on SOGIESC (S*xual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and S*x Characteristics). Her talk reminded us why understanding SOGIESC is essential to breaking stigma, fostering inclusivity, and delivering truly compassionate care in our rehabilitation centers.

Thank you also to Ms. Divina Gracia Cablay, Psychologist III of Bicutan TRC, for her insightful session on the Importance of Mental Health among LGBTQIA+ individuals. She highlighted how mental health challenges are often magnified by discrimination and rejection, and why it’s crucial for us to create safe, supportive spaces that champion healing and self-worth.

We also appreciate the presence and participation of the LGBTQIA+ youth of Brgy. Osorio, Trece Martires City. Thank you for joining us!

At DATRC CALABARZON, we believe Pride is more than a celebration, it’s a commitment. A commitment to educate, to advocate, and to stand with the LGBTQIA+ community every single day.

Let us keep building a world where everyone can love loudly and safely.

🌈 Happy Pride Month, everyone! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨

International Day Against Drug And Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) Celebration 2025

Held on June 26, 2025, this year’s celebration is a reaffirmation of our commitment to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to strengthen community-based solutions in achieving a drug-free society.

IDADAIT is not just a day of commemoration, but a call to action: to educate, support, and heal. The theme underscores the importance of prevention, evidence-based interventions, and collective responsibility in combating illicit drug use.

As part of this meaningful event, we conducted a comprehensive learning session featuring “Addiction as a Disease” and “What is a Self-Help Group and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Meeting” led by Sir Cenen “Tok” Corpus, Executive Director of Shelter from the Storm. These topics both emphasized that substance use disorder is a chronic medical condition, not a moral failing. Participants learned about its underlying biological, psychological, and social factors, underscoring the importance of empathy, early intervention, and professional treatment. They also gained firsthand insights on how NA meetings work, the value of peer support, and the power of sharing lived experiences in fostering hope and accountability.

Sir John Christopher Laudico, a recovering dependent, courageously narrated his journey from the depths of addiction to the ongoing pursuit of a healthier, purpose-driven life. His story served as an inspiration to all, reminding us that recovery is real and possible with the right help and support.

We also extend our warmest gratitude to the Trece Martires City Health Office for graciously accommodating us and supporting our advocacy for prevention, treatment, and community healing.

Let us continue to stand together in our fight against drug abuse; empower individuals, rebuilding families, and creating safer, healthier communities.
