Two research studies conducted by students of St. Paul University Philippines โ School of Medicine (SPUP-SOM) have been officially accepted for presentation at the WONCA Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2026, which will be held in Iloilo City, Philippines, as confirmed by the Scientific Committee of WONCA-APR 2026.
The first accepted study, entitled โThe Impact of Peer Support Groups on Mental Health and Quality of Life Among Breast Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review,โ is led by Joezer G. Verano as Principal Investigator, with Kristine Mae Duque, Claren Pascua, Joshua Michael Balisi, Rovy Rodan Balmes, Yvonne Genevieve Baddal, Via Angelica Iringan-Turaray, and Karyl Anne Trinidad as research members, under the guidance of Jemie Rose Maria Theresa Narag-Manzano, MD, DFM, and Mark R. Manzano, MD, FPAFP.
The second accepted research, entitled โEffect of Internet Usage on the Health-Seeking Behaviors of Non-Medical College Students of St. Paul University Philippines โ Tuguegarao,โ is headed by Dhan Kenneth Marcelino as Principal Investigator, with Jerico James Carag, Mark Tristan Asuncion, Reagan De Leon, Kimberly Cyrene Pagdilao, Clara Mae Delos Santos, Pauline Joy Roxas, Joshua Jeremy Asuncion, and Francois Diether Adolfo as members, and advised by Mark R. Manzano, MD, FPAFP, and Rei Kristoffer C. Ubiรฑa, MD, DFM
The acceptance of these studies underscores a significant academic milestone for SPUP-SOM, reflecting the institutionโs continued commitment to research and its growing contribution to regional discourse on health, mental well-being, and patient-centered care in the Asia-Pacific region.
