While the original post did not identify any hospital, some comments have mistakenly associated our institution with the matter.

We have already reached out to the concerned media outlet to address the situation and to request a clarification in order to prevent further misunderstanding.

We wish to address the Facebook post dated April 15, 2026, published by the page “Cagayan Province 101,” which is currently circulating online and refers to an alleged violation of the Anti-Hospital Detention Law involving Divine Mercy Wellness and Medical Center.

The post, especially the phrase “Divine Mercy, No Mercy,” has unfortunately led to public misunderstanding and has been associated with the hospital in various online comments and discussions.

We have already reached out to the administrator of the Facebook account to address the matter and to request a clarification in order to prevent further confusion and harm to the hospital’s reputation.

For transparency, we are sharing our formal communication regarding this issue.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

DIVINE MERCY WELLNESS AND MEDICAL CENTER strictly observes and complies with the Anti-Hospital Detention Law and its implementing rules.

To clarify the social media post alleging the denial of a patient’s promissory note, Section 2 of Republic Act No. 9439 (An Anti-Hospital Detention Law), provides that patients who have fully or partially recovered and wish to leave the hospital, but are financially incapable of settling their bills, may be allowed to do so PROVIDED the following were complied:

1. The patient executed a promissory note
2. The promissory note is secured by a mortgage OR a co-maker/guarantor
3. The patient DID NOT stay in a private room.

This means that the acceptance of a promissory note is not automatic and remains subject to compliance with these legal requirements.

In the case of a deceased patient, the law mandates the hospital to release the cadaver and to issue the death certificate and other documents necessary for interment purposes to any surviving relative who requests them, regardless of any unpaid obligation.

While we remain committed to extending compassion and assistance to our patients, we are equally bound to follow the safeguards and conditions set by law, to ensure fairness and protect the interests of both our patients and the public.

We respectfully ask for the public’s understanding and encourage a fair and informed appreciation of the situation.
