CVCHD, LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT OFFICES, PRIVATE HOSPITALS STRENGTHEN MAIFIP IMPLEMENTATION IN REGION 2
The Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD), through its program Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP), conducted a 2-day meeting and orientation on the revisions of MAIFIP, formerly Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP).
The orientation aims to familiarize concerned personnel and partner agencies, especially in private hospitals with the revisions on the guidelines of the MAIFIP and strengthen the partnership of all stakeholders, providing more comprehensive and quality services to clients.
In her message, Regional Director Dr. Amelita Pangilinan stressed the significant roles of the participants in terms of achieving the ultimate goal of the MAIFIP that is to provide compassionate and equitable healthcare to those who are most vulnerable in society, promoting their health and well-being while mitigating the adverse consequences of financial hardship in the face of medical needs.
“This activity aims to expedite the utilization of funds by the district offices; hence, the strict implementation of new guidelines is encouraged for a wider coverage of assistance; sapagka’t para sa Healthy Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga”, she said.
MAIFIP aligns with the 8-point action agenda of the Secretary of Health Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, specifically the 1st action agenda, Bawat Pilipino ramdam ang kalusugan, which ensures that every Filipino experiences health and well-being achieving the highest level of health through safe, high-quality, and patient-centered services without experiencing financial hardships.
During the activity, discussions focused on the importance of preventing private hospitals from accepting advance payments when a patient's hospital bill has been covered by guarantee letters and the importance of accelerating the use of funds by legislative district offices while adhering to the new regulations.
Said program was attended by representatives of different private hospitals and legislative district offices in Cagayan, Isabela, and Nueva Vizcaya. #
