𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬
In view of the continuing challenges brought about by the crisis in the Middle East, and in light of the declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency, I wish to respectfully inform the public that certain activities lined up for the celebration of the Balangay Festival 2026 will be postponed or canceled.
At this time, I am guided by our shared responsibility to exercise prudence in the use of public funds and to place foremost the more urgent needs of our people. In the face of present uncertainties, it is both necessary and prudent to recalibrate some of our plans, deferring select activities to a more appropriate time, while discontinuing others for this year.
Accordingly, the following adjustments will be made:
𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆:
- Mutya Hong Butuan
𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆:
- Lamdag Balangay
- Indak Balangay
- Festival of Talents
- Butuan Volleyball Exhibition
- 3rd Bugsay Balangay National Dragon Boat Club Crew Competition
While these adjustments may temper the scale of our festivities, they do not diminish their meaning. The City of Butuan will continue to celebrate the Balangay Festival in a manner that is joyful, meaningful and responsive to the times. More significantly, we will proceed with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Balangay Excavation, a defining symbol of our history, identity and culture, and a testament to the enduring spirit of the Butuanon people.
Indeed, the spirit of the Balangay is not confined to moments of abundance. It reveals itself most profoundly in times that call for unity, resilience, and shared purpose. It is this very spirit that will guide us as we navigate present challenges and move forward together.
I humbly ask for your understanding and continued support.
Salamat gid kadiyaw, and together, let us press on, steadfast and united, for the good of our beloved city.
Padayon sa paglawig, Butuan.
