Even in your deepest worries, God’s comfort has the power to replace fear with joy. His presence is stronger than anxiety.

Even in the middle of worries and uncertainties, God’s presence goes before you. His command is not to fear—but to trust that He is always with you.

When you eat unhealthy food in secret — sweets, junk, overeating — you might think no one notices. But over time, your body reflects those choices. Your energy level, weight, skin, and overall health are all results of what you consistently consume, whether people see you eating it or not. In short, your body tells the truth about your habits.

That quote means that growth often comes through discomfort.

When you avoid challenges because they feel uncomfortable—like hard work, criticism, or uncertainty—you limit yourself. But when you accept that discomfort is part of progress, you open the door to new skills, stronger character, and bigger achievements.

In short: don’t fear the struggle—embrace it, because it’s the path to something greater.

Workers’ Week of Devotion I August 4-8, 2025

In a continuation of the Workers' Week of Devotion for the year, the Ancillary Division inspired AMCV Workers through testimonies of being “Guided by God's Hand”.

On Monday, Ms. Josephine Tolentino shared how God’s hand saved her in childhood from a life-threatening illness, sustained her during financial struggles through college, protected her and her family while ministering with husband, and brought her to AMCV.

On Tuesday, the strong, independent woman, Ms. Sherielene Tolentino related through her life story how God not only guided her, but “Strengthened (her) to Do Good”. She shared four powerful truths in her message: 1. God guides us; 2. His guidance leads us to do good; 3. Doing good reflects His character; and 4. Even when it’s hard, His hand strengthens us to continue.

In a Maalaala Mo Kaya fashion, Ms. Mary Joy Ticar recounted her heart-wrenching story of love and loss on Wednesday. In that darkest time of despair, she found out that like in the poem “Footprints in the Sand”, God does not leave us in times of need; instead, He carries us.

On Thursday, Ms. Irish Mae Rizada shared her experience in taking the Licensure Examination for Medical Technologists in her testimony “A Medical Technologist’s Journey to Victory”. That experience was not only an academic pursuit, but also a spiritual journey that taught her that when God’s hand guides you, you don’t walk in fear but in faith, He strengthens and upholds you, He covers and protects you, and He purifies you for greater purpose.

Finally, Ms. Elisa Alcisto ended the week with a light-hearted depiction of her struggles growing up poor, and how through her creativity, hard work, and perseverance she was able to graduate from college, work at AMCV, and finally be able to provide for her family. Through her experience, she has learned that God uses problems for our correction, for our direction, and for our connection with Him.

It was another week of inspiration and encouragement for AMCV workers where they were assured that God’s hand still holds and guides His people.

The Workers’ Week of Devotion is an initiative of AMCV’s Pastoral Care Services Department that aims to empower workers to lead and share their experiences as speakers. It is a part of their discipleship program that encourages Total Membership Involvement.

History

ADVENTIST MEDICAL CENTER-VALENCIA CITY Formerly known as the Valencia Sanitarium and Hospital.

Adventist Medical Center – Valencia City, Inc. (AMCV) is a non stock, non profit Faith-based healthcare facility located at A.T. Aguilar Street, Poblacion, Valencia City dedicated to providing optimum quality care to all clients in Valencia City and nearby municipalities.

This property was acquired by South Philippine Union Conference (SPUC) from Dr. and Mrs. Floro Casuga in the year 1993. SPUC tapped the services of Mr. Lamar Phillips, Director of Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), to continue the operation of the clinic, but he was transferred to Africa before the realization of the dream. He endorsed the plan to Mr. Gil Micua, a missionary by heart and his successor as ADRA Director. With the great help of thirteen (13) dedicated volunteers, AMCV was inaugurated on October 13, 1993, with a twelve (12) bed capacity and a land area of 555 square meters.

Just after five (5) months of operation, the number of patients increased reaching up to 250% occupancy rate, and the hospital building could no longer accommodate the number of patients who came for treatment. In 1996, with the help of Mountain View College (MVC), the adjacent lot was acquired and a new building was constructed. In 1997, the management of the hospital was transferred from ADRA to MVC as approved by SPUC, and Mr. Fred Webb was given the responsibility to oversee the operation of the hospital.
