TWO SUSPECTS HELD FOR SELLING UNREGISTERED SLIMMING DRUG ONLINE
Two suspects were arrested on March 30, 2026 for illegally selling unregistered Tirzepatide products in a controlled operation conducted by the Quezon City Police District – Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU), in coordination with the Philippine Air Force–Armed Forces of the Philippines Directorate for Intelligence.
Authorities seized multiple vials of Tirzepatide, bacteriostatic water, packaging materials, labeling stickers, mobile phones, and marked money—evidence of deliberate commercial distribution.
A prior test-buy, certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), confirmed that the products being sold are not registered, making their sale illegal and potentially hazardous to consumers, particularly amid the growing demand for rapid weight management solutions.
Appropriate charges under Republic Act No. 9711, or the FDA Act of 2009, are being prepared for inquest proceedings.
Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., underscored the danger of such illegal trade, “Ang pagbebenta ng hindi rehistradong gamot ay malinaw na banta sa kalusugan ng publiko. We will continue to act swiftly and decisively to stop these illegal activities.”
The operation is part of the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s guidance to prioritize public safety.
The PNP reminds the public to avoid purchasing injectable or prescription products from unauthorized online sellers and to report suspicious activities.
"We call on everyone to stay alert and not risk their health by buying from illegal sources. With public cooperation, we can put an end to this unlawful trade," PGEN Nartatez added.
These efforts reflect the vision of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, ensuring service is felt by every Filipino.
