Not all allergic reactions are from food or the environment—some can come from common pain relievers.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen, Aspirin, and Naproxen can trigger:
🔹 Hives (urticaria)
🔹 Swelling of lips, eyelids, or face (angioedema)
🔹 Itching or skin redness
⚠️ These reactions may occur even without prior history and can happen within minutes to hours after intake.
💡 What to do:
✔️ Stop the suspected NSAID!
✔️ Seek medical advice (board-certified allergist)—especially if swelling involves the face or breathing
✔️ Patients with known reactions should avoid similar NSAIDs and consult for safe alternatives
👩🏻⚕️ Proper diagnosis is important—some patients may tolerate certain medications while reacting to others.
