From 1912 to 1948, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded medals not only in athletics but also in five creative fields: architecture, painting, sculpture, literature, and music.
The first architecture competition took place at the 1912 Stockholm Games, where entries included built works, speculative designs, and even town planning. Each was required to highlight the link between art and sport.
Though the competitions ended, architecture still reflects the Olympic spirit of precision, purpose and dedication.
