UTIs are common infections that happen when bacteria, often from the skin or re**um, enter the urethra, and infect the urinary tract. The infections can affect several parts of the urinary tract (urethra, bladder, ureters, kidneys).

Signs and symptoms of UTI include:
Bladder Infection
1. Pain or burning while urinating
2. Frequent urination
3. Feeling the need to urinate despite having an empty bladder
4. Bloody urine
5. Pressure or cramping in the groin or lower abdomen

Kidney Infection
1. Fever
2. Chills
3. Lower back pain or pain in the side of your back
4. Nausea or vomiting

Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Practice proper ge***al hygiene.

Leptospirosis is an illness caused by the bacteria Leptospira. You can get leptospirosis after getting water or soil contaminated by animal p*e (urine) in your nose, your mouth, your eyes or a break in your skin.

Some common dermatologic (skin), ophthalmic (eye) diseases we encounter during consultation. Diseases like Impetigo, Carbuncle and Folliculitis require antibiotics because it is a bacterial infection. While Measles, Chicken Pox, Roseola, which is caused by virus, are self-limited (meaning it can go away on its own), and is usually treated supportively.

Contaminated hands could be vehicles for the spread of certain viruses and bacteria (1). Handwashing can prevent 1 in 3 diarrhea-related sicknesses and 1 in 5 respiratory illnesses, like colds or the flu (2).

Always wash your hands before and after meals. Avoid putting your hands near or inside your mouth, your nose, especially in children.
