𝟮-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 | 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟲–𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 | 𝟵:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 – 𝟱:𝟬𝟬 𝗣𝗠

The Advanced Manufacturing in Medicine (ADMAM3D) Laboratory successfully held a two-day hands-on training on the use of Materialise Mimics last June 26–27, 2025. We were honored to be guided by our expert trainers from 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝗰.., 𝗠𝗿. 𝗚𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻, along with our dedicated facilitator, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗞𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘇 from Gabigroup Inc.

The training introduced us to the fundamentals of the Mimics software and focused on specialized applications aligned with the research goals of ADMAM3D. The knowledge and insights gained from this session opened new directions for future research that support our mission to make advanced healthcare more accessible in the Philippines.

As part of their visit, we also had the opportunity to tour Mr. Gagan Deep and Mr. Jasper Chan around the ADMAM3D Laboratory, sharing with them our recent activities, renovations, and the story of how it all began.

We were also pleased to have participants from the ORL-HNS Department of ZCMC, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘇, Chief Resident, and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲, 4th Year Resident, as well as from the Biomedical Engineering Department, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗼.

🔧✨ ANSYS Software Training Recap – Where Ideas Took Shape! ✨🔧

Last June 9-10 (9AM–5PM), the Advanced Manufacturing in Medicine (ADMAM3D) team hosted an intensive ANSYS Software training session right here in our lab — and yes, things got meshy in the best way!

Guided by expert trainers Engr. Jose Miguel Reyes (CAD-IT Consultants (Asia) Pte. Ltd.) and Mr. Kyle Pedravez (Puzzlebox, Gabigroup Inc.) we explored the forces that shape innovation — quite literally — through powerful 3D simulations and fluid dynamics modeling. 💨💻

From stress testing to smooth flow analysis, the training gave us all the right forces to reckon with — and our participants handled it like pros!

A big thank you to our in-person attendees from the Biomedical Engineering Department of Zamboanga City Medical Center and our online participants from Mapúa University for joining us on this dynamic learning experience.

Let’s keep the momentum flowing and continue building solutions layer by layer!

A pioneer in atmospheric plasma spray technology, Dr. Candidato leads cutting-edge research in advanced coatings for 3D-printed PEEK for biomedical implants through our joint project, PEEK into the Future.

We’re honored to collaborate with such an outstanding scientist and look forward to more breakthroughs together.

Regarding the recent concerns and the investigation into a prosthetic device allegedly linked to an infection in a private hospital, we fully support and align with the Official Statement issued by the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).

Following a comprehensive and impartial investigation by the ZCMC, which was meticulously conducted through a careful review of all relevant clinical records, procedural documentation, and consultations with the involved departments, there is no evidence to support the claim that the infection was caused by the prosthetic device initiated under the Polyether-ether ketone (PEEK) Implant Program of the Advanced Manufacturing in Medicine-ADMAM3D (formerly, ENT-HNS Medical Makerspace). The investigation has confirmed that all procedures were performed in accordance with established institutional protocols and ethical guidelines.

The PEEK Implant Program is a duly recognized initiative at ZCMC that adheres strictly to national and international standards of safety, quality, and professional ethics, implemented by qualified specialists who are committed to responsible innovation and patient-centered care.

We note with deep concern the making of unsubstantiated accusations regarding this matter. Such accusations regrettably lacked essential information necessary for a proper review and bypassed proper procedure, unfortunately leading to avoidable speculation and casting significant doubt on the integrity of our unit. We stand by the findings of the hospital's investigation, which definitively found no evidence supporting the claim against our program.

We remain fully committed to cooperation, transparency, and upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety, in line with ZCMC's values.
