Health Advisory: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD)

HFMD Prevention Tips:
Protect yourself and the people around you from Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease with these simple steps:

1. Wash Hands Frequently
Use soap and water, especially after using the toilet, coughing/sneezing, or before eating.

2. Avoid Close Contact
Stay home until fever and sores are gone.
Avoid hugging, kissing, or sharing utensils during outbreaks.

3. Disinfect Surfaces and Toys
Regularly clean commonly touched surfaces like doorknobs, toys, and tables. Use disinfectant spray, wipes or diluted bleach solution.

4. Practice Respiratory Hygiene
Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
Use tissues or elbows to prevent virus spread.

Inform the infirmary, your class moderator (for students) and office/department head (for employees) if diagnosed.

6. Watch for Early Symptoms
Act quickly if your child shows signs of fever, rash, or mouth sores.
Early isolation reduces the chance of spreading the illness.

Prevention is the best cure. Let's work together to keep our families and communities healthy!

UPHOLDING SAFETY STANDARDS | AdZU Convenes First Safety and Health Council Meeting

In a bid to reinforce a safe and healthy learning environment, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) held the first meeting of its Safety and Health Council for the School Year 2025–2026 on August 11, 2025.

The meeting brought together health and safety officers from various units, alongside representatives from the faculty, staff, human resources, and the student body, to review current campus safety measures. A major highlight was the presentation of the revised University Safety and Health Manual, which provides clearer guidelines and strengthens the university’s emergency preparedness and health protocols.

The council also welcomed its new members and acknowledged the contributions of last year’s council, the working committee that spearheaded the manual’s revision, and the University Communications Office for their assistance in its production.

Through these efforts, AdZU reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of its community and fostering a secure, supportive campus environment.
