A syringoma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumor of the sweat ducts, usually arising from the eccrine glands (the type of sweat gland that helps regulate body temperature).

Here are the key points about syringoma:

🔹 Appearance:
• Small (1–3 mm), firm, skin-colored to yellowish papules (tiny bumps).
• Usually appear in clusters.
• Commonly located on the lower eyelids, upper cheeks, but can also occur on the chest, abdomen, armpits, and ge***al area.

🔹 Who gets it:
• More common in women, especially during or after puberty.
• May be associated with genetic conditions like Down syndrome.
• Can sometimes run in families (familial syringoma).

🔹 Symptoms:
• Usually asymptomatic (no pain or itching).
• Mainly a cosmetic concern because of their appearance.

🔹 Cause:
• Overgrowth of cells from eccrine sweat ducts.
• Not infectious, not related to hygiene, and not contagious.

🔹 Treatment (if desired, for cosmetic reasons):
• Electrocautery, laser therapy (CO₂ or erbium laser), cryotherapy, or surgical excision.
• Recurrence is common, and treatments may cause scarring or pigment changes.
