On Circulating False Claims Regarding Individuals Conducting Blood Sugar Tests Contaminated with HIV

The Department of Health (DOH) warns the public on a circulating message on social media falsely claiming to be a member of the Faculty of Medicine visiting houses for a blood sugar test. The post claims that the needles used to inject are allegedly contaminated with HIV.

The Philippine National Police has also debunked this message, confirming that it is a scare tactic with no factual basis.

The DOH urges the public not to share unverified claims that may cause unnecessary alarm. Further, the public is enjoined to source information only from legitimate sources and platforms such as the health department, which can be accessed through the links and social media handles below.

The Philippines is one of 21 countries in the Western Pacific that have conducted a JEE since the process was introduced in 2016. Notably, it is one of only three countries in the region to have completed a second JEE, demonstrating its dedication to advancing health security preparedness and response capacities.

Results from the first JEE in 2018 guided the country in implementing targeted improvements. Over the past five years, significant milestones have been made, including the proactive revision of plans, assessments of priority health risks, and enhancements in disaster response mechanisms.
