Zamboanga City Medical Center reminds everyone to remain vigilant following an advisory from the City Government of Zamboanga regarding a scheduled rocket launch by the People's Republic of China this July 30, 2025, between 3:41 PM to 4:18 PM (PhST).

The Long March 8A rocket will be launched from Wenchang, Hainan, and debris is expected to fall within an identified drop zone โ€” approximately 42 nautical miles from Zamboanga City.

Today marks the last day of the WMSU Environmental Engineering interns at Zamboanga City Medical Centerโ€”and what a productive journey it has been.

During their on-the-job training with the Safety and Environment Unit and the Engineering Facilities Management, these future engineers immersed themselves in real-world applications of environmental stewardship. They conducted safety inspections, work environment measurements, and healthcare waste audits, including the production of biodiesel and soap production from biodiesel by-productโ€”ensuring that ZCMC continues to uphold safety, sustainability, and climate-smart healthcare practices. They also engaged in engineering applications and presented insightful case studies, showcasing innovation, technical skill, and a genuine commitment to environmental protection.

Beyond technical skills, they learned the value of humility, teamwork, and public serviceโ€”lessons that will stay with them long after this internship ends. More importantly, they built connections that we hope to preserve as they journey on to become full-fledged professionals.

Zamboanga City Medical Center had the distinct honor of hosting ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐‘๐ž๐ง๐ณ๐จ ๐‘. ๐†๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐จ, ๐Œ๐ƒ, ๐ƒ๐ซ๐๐‡, a leading global advocate for planetary health, during his recent visit on July 24, 2025.

During his visit, Dr. Guinto toured Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), where he was introduced to the hospitalโ€™s climate-smart healthcare initiativesโ€”efforts that underscore ZCMCโ€™s commitment to sustainability and resilience in the face of the climate crisis.
