Congratulations to the ZCMC Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. SHARMAINE GAY MANLANGIT, for her in depth Case presentation with the title “A not so merry Christmas” Thank you as well to her adviser DANIEL MARK YUMOL, MD, FPCP, DPSHBT, DPCHTM an
Adult Hematologist for sharing his insights on this case.

Her study started with a case of a 19-year-old male with a history of multiple emergency room (ER) consultations due to hip pain. Upon further investigation, the patient revealed a previous diagnosis of hemophilia and multiple hospitalizations in his youth for blood transfusions. Hip pain is a notable symptom of hemophilia B and should not be disregarded. Prompt management of such symptoms is crucial because untreated joint bleeds can lead to chronic damage and long-term disability. When diagnosed and treated appropriately, many of the serious complications associated with hemophilia B can be effectively prevented. thank you all for coming and see you on our next IDCP.
