Last March 11, 2026, Dr. Pillar Del Cielo R. Cabanlit, 2nd Year Resident of the Department of Psychiatry, Zamboanga City Medical Center, was formally commended by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Zamboanga City through SP Resolution No. 271 for securing Third Place in the 40th Inter-Hospital Case Competition during the Philippine Psychiatric Association 52nd Annual Convention. She presented the case entitled โ€œEmbrace without Warmth,โ€ a case of postpartum psychosis that examined the intricate biopsychosocial and cultural dimensions of mental illness in the postpartum period. The case underscored the need for compassionate, multidisciplinary, and culturally responsive approaches to mental health care.

The event was attended by her proud parents, Mr. Teotimo Cabanlit and Mrs. Maria Delfina Cabanlit, and Dr. Sheila May Aduviso, DSBPP, her case supervisor and Assistant Training Officer, in support of this recognition.

This award further strengthens the Departmentโ€™s commitment to continue advancing and extending quality mental health services for the people of Zamboanga City and the region.

National Women's Month ๐Ÿ’œ

Women are often labeled as emotional, overreactive, or worriers and are judged too quickly for how they feel or express themselves.
But behind those emotions is often a simple need: to be heard and understood.

What is called โ€œoverreactingโ€ may be someone expressing pain.
What is called โ€œworrying too muchโ€ may be someone carrying silent battles.

Women are more than the labels placed on them. Their emotions are valid, their voices matter, and their mental health deserves care, understanding, and compassion.

This National Womenโ€™s Month, we are reminded to listen more, judge less, and help create spaces where every woman feels seen, heard, and valued. โœจ

๐Ÿงก Self-Harm Awareness Month ๐Ÿงก

Help is available. Hope is reachable.

This month, we raise awareness about self-harm and self-injury โ€” breaking myths and widening understanding that this struggle is real. Marami ang tahimik na lumalaban sa loob, hiding their scars and holding on to even the smallest hope they can find.

May this month be filled with kindness, compassion, and care, and may we continue creating a safe space for those who are silently battling within themselves and experiencing deep emotional pain and distress.

You are never alone. You matter. May pag-asa at paghilom para saโ€™yo.

Speak up. Reach out for help. Be kind to yourself. May handang makinig at umunawa saโ€™yo.

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฅ— Healthy Plate, Healthy State โ€“ Wellness Activity Recap ๐Ÿฅ—๐ŸŒฟ

The ZCMC Department of Psychiatry successfully conducted its Wellness Activity last February 20, 2026 at the New OPD Building โ€” reinforcing the vital connection between physical health and mental well-being.

We were honored to invite the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics for an insightful lecture delivered by Glydel Ramillano, RDN, Nutritionist and Dietitian II, focusing on calorie counting, balanced meal planning, and simple healthy recipes. The session emphasized how proper nutrition not only fuels the body but also supports mood, focus, emotional regulation, and overall mental resilience.
Thank you to our Nutrition and Dietetics team for helping us promote holistic wellness and healthier lifestyle choices within our department.

When we care for the body, we strengthen the mind โ€” one healthy plate at a time. ๐Ÿ’š

We officially concluded the 3-day Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) for the survivors, their families and families of the victims of the recent event involving MV Trisha Kerstin III. The psychological intervention was held from February 21, 22 and 23, 2026 at Maimbung Municipal Hall, Sulu.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Maimbung Municipal Government under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Shihla Tan-Hayudini, for the collaboration with our team and for prioritizing mental health and psychological intervention for those affected of this sea tragedy.

May the healing continue, and together, we stand stronger as a resilient community.
