The department proudly congratulates Dr. Kriska Caye Solares-Mohammad, MD, MPH for successfully passing the Specialty Board of Philippine Psychiatry Diplomate Written Examination (Part I) held last August 2, 2025 in Manila.

Your dedication and hard work are truly commendable and an inspiration to all of us! This milestone marks another step forward in your journey to become a board certified psychiatrist. We are proud of you! Congratulations!👏

On July 30, 2025, the department successfully conducted the monthly staff meeting at the Admin Conference Room. This was attended by the different unit heads and staff of the department. This meeting highlighted the department’s accomplishments, target goals and concerns.

Afterwards, a Ward Case Management Conference was held with a case entitled “Chasing the Morning, after the Midnight” presented by Dr. Kim Elaine Saipuddin, MD, MPH, a first year resident. This was paneled by the case supervisor and training officer, Dr. Sheila May D. Aduviso, department chairperson, Dr. Nadia M. Paber and the psychological support unit head, Ms. Antonietta C. Escandar. Other ward management presenters were Ms. Mernita Credo, social worker; Mr. Rolf Marcus Villena, psychologist; and Mr. Ionico Garcia, nurse in charge. This was immediately followed by a lunch symposium done by Dr. Sheila May Aduviso on Transdiagnostic Approach in Managing Mood Disorder and Use of Quetiapine.

These activities reflect our continued commitment to clinical excellence, collaborative learning, and professional development in the field of Mental Health.

The Department proudly participated in the 35th Midyear Convention & 40th Postgraduate Course of the Philippine Psychiatric Association, held last July 16–18, 2025 at Novotel, Araneta City, Quezon City. With the theme “The Roles of a 21st Century Filipino Psychiatrist as L.E.A.D.E.R.S in Mental Health”. This was attended by the consultants and residents: Dr. Sheila May D. Aduviso, Dr. Neil Ryan A. Marcos, Dr. Charlene Mae L.H. Valdez and Dr. Kim Elaine B. Saipuddin.

Also, the department congratulates Dr. Kriska Caye Solares-Mohammad, MD, MPH, a graduate of the department’s psychiatry residency program, for being inducted as an associate member of the Philippine Psychiatric Association. Enhorabuena, Dr. Solares-Mohammad!

The department proudly congratulates Dr. Bernardo L. Conde, MD, FPPA (Life), FPNA, our Interim Training Officer/Consultant, who appeared as the guest speaker of the Philippine College of Psychopharmacology’s 2nd Quarterly Scientific Meeting highlighting the topic: “Psychopharmacology of Mixed Mania: Navigating Complexity in Bipolar Treatment” held last July 7, 2025 in Davao.

Dr. Conde shared valuable insights on the clinical challenges and management strategies in treating mixed episodes of bipolar disorder.

He was also proudly introduced by our Assistant Training Officer, Dr. Sheila May Aduviso, MD, MPH, DSBPP, who is also PCPsych collegian board member for Mindanao.

On June 28–29, 2025, Dr. Sheila May Aduviso MD, MPH, DSBPP, our assistant training officer, had the privilege of attending the 2025 HKCPsych International Mental Health Congress at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with the theme “Towards Mental Health for All: Translating, Transforming and Transcending”

The congress brought together regional and international experts to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and innovations in psychiatric care. The congress also offered
an excellent chance for young scholars to present their work and clinical experience through oral presentations and posters in all fields of mental health.
