In a significant boost to medical education in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) Pathway, a highly anticipated postgraduate course for doctors was held on July 27, 2025 at the Emerald Hall, Badsbrotel Suites in Ipil, ZSP. This essential event, hosted by The Philippine Heart Association Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter and the ZamPen Heart Institute, in coordination with the Zamboanga Sibugay Medical Society, aimed to equip medical professionals with advanced knowledge and best practices in managing Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).

The postgraduate course featured two eminent speakers, offering specialized insights into critical aspects of cardiovascular care. Dr. Lowe L. Chiong, MD, FPCP, FPCC, FAsCC, delivered an insightful presentation on Optimal Medical Therapy (OMT) and Fibrinolysis and Primary to Secondary CV Protection. His session provided attendees with an in-depth understanding of optimal medical therapy, fibrinolytic strategies, and comprehensive approaches to both primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention.

Following Dr. Chiong, Dr. Eleonor S. Yeo, MD, FPCP, FPCC, FAsCC, presented on the intricate ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI) Pathway, Cath Lab Activation and ACS Recognition. Dr. Yeo's discussion focused on the crucial diagnostic and management algorithms for different types of heart attacks, including the vital steps involved in prompt catheterization laboratory activation for timely and specialized interventions.

The ACS Pathway postgraduate course is a testament to The Philippine Heart Association-Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter and ZAMPEN Heart Institute’s commitment to continuous medical education and elevating the standard of cardiovascular care in the region. By providing the doctors with the latest evidence-based knowledge and practical pathways, this event empowers them to make life-saving decisions and improve patient outcomes in critical ACS cases.
