65 Years of Service. One Mission: Saving Lives

In line with the pre-hospital anniversary activities for the upcoming EAABH 65th Anniversary, Edwin Andrews Air Base Hospital proudly conducted a Breast Cancer and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Screening Activity on 15 April 2026 at the EAAB Hospital Conference Room, reinforcing our commitment to preventive healthcare and early disease detection. This meaningful initiative was made possible through our strong partnership with the Department of Health Zamboanga Peninsula Center for Health Development (DOH ZP CHD), bringing accessible and life-saving services closer to our community.

The activity began with an empowering and informative lecture delivered by Julius Matthew M. Luzana, RN, MD, MPH, emphasizing the critical importance of awareness, early detection, and timely intervention in combating two of today’s most pressing health concerns, breast cancer and chronic kidney disease. His insights served as a powerful reminder that knowledge is our first line of defense in protecting our health.

We are proud to share the active participation of our military personnel, dependents, and civilian human resources, who took a proactive step toward safeguarding their well-being:
🔹 41 individuals underwent CKD screening
🔹 15 individuals participated in cancer screening
Behind every number is a life that chose prevention, a family that gains peace of mind, and a future that may be saved through early detection. This activity is more than just a health program, it is a reflection of our enduring mission to serve, protect, and care. As we celebrate 65 years of dedicated service, we continue to strengthen our advocacy for a healthier, more informed, and resilient community.

To our partners from DOH ZP CHD, our healthcare team, and all participants—thank you for making this initiative a success. Your commitment fuels our purpose and inspires us to do more. Together, let us continue to champion preventive care, promote health awareness, and build a future where every life is valued and protected.

HIV & AIDS Awareness: Know the Facts, Stay Safe, Get Tested

Understanding HIV and AIDS is an important step toward protecting ourselves and others. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) attacks the body’s immune system, weakening its ability to fight infections. If left untreated, it can progress to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), the most advanced stage of HIV, where the immune system becomes severely damaged.

The good news? While there is still no cure for HIV, it can be effectively managed with proper treatment. People living with HIV can lead long, healthy, and fulfilling lives with early diagnosis and consistent care.

📌 How is HIV transmitted?
HIV can be passed through unprotected sexual contact, sharing of needles or syringes, blood transfusion with infected blood, and from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding.

✅ How can we prevent it?
Prevention is always better than cure. Using condoms consistently, getting tested regularly, staying in a mutually faithful relationship, avoiding needle sharing, and considering preventive options like PrEP (with a doctor’s guidance) are key steps in protecting yourself.

🚫 What HIV is NOT spread by:
You cannot get HIV from simple everyday interactions like hugging, handshakes, insect bites, sharing food or drinks, using toilet seats, swimming pools, or through sweat and tears. Let’s break the stigma by knowing the truth.

💊 Remember: Early testing and treatment improve health outcomes and help prevent the spread of HIV.

Let’s stay informed, support one another, and promote a safer, healthier community. ❤️🎗️
