Showcasing Excellence in Eye Surgery! 👁

Last week, our PMCZ eye surgeons, Dr. Elizabeth Giller, assisted by Dr. Jayjumhar Precia, demonstrated their expertise by performing a complex anterior segment surgery. Using the advanced scleral fixation technique, they successfully repositioned a dislocated intraocular lens. This approach offers a safer alternative to older techniques like placing lenses in the anterior chamber (ACIOL), which carries a higher risk of corneal decompensation.

Our External Disease and Cornea Team are the only subspecialists in their field in Zamboanga City. Dr. Giller and Dr. Precia have also received international acclaim for their research and innovative surgical contributions, and we are beyond proud to have them in our PMCZ team of eye specialists.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night on our very 1st education forum entitled, "Seeing the Bigger Picture: Bridging Gaps Between Systemic Health & Eye Care”.

We discussed key insights on diabetic retinopathy and the importance of diagnostics like FA (Fluorescein Angiography) & Macular OCT in diabetic patient care. Special thanks to our incredible speakers, Dr. Edward Chio Jr. and Dr. Maijann Precia, for sharing their expertise, and to all the participants for making this event a success.

Finally!!! Zamboanga City proudly welcomes its very first and only Pediatric Ophthalmologist, Dr. Stacey-Sau Ong, at the Premier Medical Center Zamboanga (PMCZ) Eye Center! Dr. Ong graduated Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious University of Santo Tomas, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at St. Luke’s Medical Center and successfully passed the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology examination. She further subspecialized and pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the East Avenue Medical Center.
