As we commemorate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with the theme: “Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care.”
Behind every patient is a story. A mother fighting to stay strong for her children. A father who silently carries pain. A child praying for comfort. Families who hold on to hope despite uncertainty. These are the lives touched by palliative care — lives that deserve dignity, relief, and love.
• Honor and salute the palliative and hospice care providers who serve with courage and heart.
• Raise our voices to call for equal access to compassionate care for all — rich or poor, young or old, wherever they may be.
• Stand firm in the belief that palliative care is not a privilege, but a human right.
Here at the Cancer Center of Zamboanga City Medical Center, in collaboration with the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Public Health Unit, we answer this call. We stand together — for comfort, for dignity, for hope.
Let this day move us — not just to awareness, but to action. Let us be instruments of compassion. Let us be advocates for those who suffer silently. And let us work together until the day palliative care becomes a promise fulfilled — for everyone, everywhere.
Thank you, and may we always choose compassion.
