The ZPMCI Department of Family and Community Medicine consultants, led by Dr. Joseph Llenado (Chairman) and Dr. Christine Yu (Training Officer), participated in the 37th Annual Convention of the Foundation for Family Medicine Educators, Inc., held at The Marison Hotel, Legazpi City, Bicol.

This year’s theme, “Advancing Family and Community Medicine Education: Strengthening the Integration of Patient, Family, and Community Health in Training,” underscored the importance of a holistic approach to medical education.

The convention featured a series of insightful discussions focused on enhancing residency training programs and curricula through a patient-centered, family-focused, and community-oriented framework. Equally emphasized was the mental health and well-being of both residents and consultants, reflecting the growing recognition of wellness as an integral part of effective medical education.

ZPMCI Department of Family and Community Medicine actively participated in a two-day seminar-workshop held from June 30 to July 1, 2025 at Cordoba Hall, Palacio del Sur.

The event, titled "𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘀: 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹, 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲," organized by the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) Toxicology provided the participants with valuable insights and up-to-date strategies for hospital-based interventions concerning common substance addictions.

ZPMCI Department of Family and Community Medicine celebrated World Family Doctor Day with a meaningful lay forum centered on "Healthy Living of Healthcare Workers." The event, held to honor the vital role of family doctors and promote holistic well-being, featured ZPMCI’s Level 1 Family Medicine Resident, Dr. Joshua B. Manahan as its esteemed guest speaker.

World Family Doctors' Day, observed globally, recognizes the contributions of family physicians in providing comprehensive, continuous, and person-centered healthcare. This year, the ZPMCI's Family and Community Medicine department chose to highlight the often-overlooked aspect of healthcare worker wellness, acknowledging the unique challenges and stresses faced by those on the front lines of patient care.
