Sa tanan sakit, importante jud ang “early diagnosis” mao ayaw mo pangunsulta sa inyo silingan. Ang “cervical cancer” is treatable and preventable nga cancer in fact kini ra ang cancer naay “screening” ug mao kani ang “pap smear”, kausa sa usa ka tuig ra buhaton ug inexpensive. If moingon ta “screening” ug buhaton lang regularly equivalent to “early diagnosis” nga mo resulta sa “early treatment “ and “good prognosis”. Naa pud cervical cancer vaccine 3 doses ra but offers lifetime protection ug affordable ra pud. Ang cause sa cervical cancer is HPV or human papilloma virus nga makuha thru s*xual contact so dako ug role ang monogamy.

Have your pap smear regularly and if can afford have yourself vaccinated.
Way pagmahay mag-una so dapat cautious kita.

Everyone, as what Health Sec Herbosa said- HIV is now a public health emergency in the Philippines. Just in the middle of this week, i saw 2 cases of Tubo- ovarian Abcess.
What is TOA? Tubo- ovarian abscess (TOA) is one of the late complications of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and can be life-threatening if the abscess ruptures and results in sepsis. It consists of an encapsulated or confined pocket of pus with defined boundaries that forms during an infection of a fallopian tube and o***y. These abscesses are found most commonly in reproductive age women and typically result from upper ge***al tract infection.It is an inflammatory mass involving the fallopian tube, o***y and, occasionally, other adjacent pelvic organs.
Typical symptoms are low abdominal pain, fever, abnormal vaginal bleeding, foul-smelling vaginal discharge and adnexal mass.
Complications arising from TOA include infertilty from adhesions, ectopic pregnancy, rupture and sepsis.
Be vigilant everyone - remember the cause of TOA is pelvic inflammatory infection from a s*xually transmitted disease. Practice monogamy and safe s*x. What’s worst is if you have HIV and TOA.

Today , i have these mixed feelings after performing an OB ultrasound . I was so excited because the pregnancy was a triplet pregnancy. When i was a senior resident several years back , i was lucky to deliver a triplet pregnancy via normal /assisted spontaneous delivery because although it was supposed to be a CS delivery ideally, the OB ultrasound only revealed 2 fetuses. We were so panicked to discover a 3rd fetus, the pedia people had to scramble and brought another baby basket and another resident to take care of the 3rd baby. After more than 20 years of being an OB-GYN sonologist, this is my 1st time to encounter a triplet pregnancy but i am also sad because the patient is only 15 years old. She is already a high risk pregnancy because of the age plus this triplet pregnancy which potentially is associated with more complications such as preeclampsia, GDM, premature labor and delivery, postpartum bleeding and complications of a CS delivery which is the ideal mode of delivery. But i pray that with good prenatal care and compliance by the patient and mother, she will have an uneventful pregnancy and safe delivery.(posted with mother’s permission)
