A meeting was held for all the members of Central Curriculum Committee (CCC) from Abbottabad on Thursday, 28th September 2023 at 11:00 AM in the IT/DMER conference room of Women Dental College Abbottabad, chaired by Prof. Dr. Irum Abbas (Principal, Ayub Dental College), who was accompanied by respected Prof. Dr. Samia Shad (Principal Abbottabad International Dental College), received and hosted by Prof. Dr. Shahid Khan (Principal, WDC). The agenda was to develop craniofacial-1 & craniofacial-2 modules for the KMU curriculum of 1st year BDS. A well-festooned literary day event was held in Rehmat Memorial Post Graduate Dental Hospital on the 16th of Sep, 2023, supervised by the Literary Society of Women Dental College Abbottabad. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Shahid Khan Principal Women Dental College. The event was an organized quagmire of activities like Qirat, Naat, English and Urdu debates, dramatic play and prize distribution. The denouement comprised of words of wisdom by chief guest Prof. Dr. Shahid Khan principal Women Dental College.

The first Dentistry Central Curriculum Committee was held today in KMU, Peshawar. Dr Shahid Khan (Principal Women Dental College Abbottabad), Dr Zahur Qayyum (VP WDC), Dr Abdullah Qazi (HOD DMER), and Dr Uzair Khan (HOD Periodontology) attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Director IHPER and chaired by the VC KMU, who was accompanied by the Minister of Health and representation from all dental colleges affiliated with KMU. It was decided that the integrated modular system in 1st year BDS will be implemented in the coming session (2024). The curriculum will be developed by all stakeholders in CCC.

A kick start to Dental Camps by Women Dental College Abbottabad and Rehmat Memorial Post Graduate Dental Hospital has started to provide free dental checkups and oral health awareness in School children of Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Haripur districts from September 4th to 8th September 2023.
30 thousand school children will also receive complimentary toothbrushes and toothpastes. The hospital will provide free checkups and toothbrushes with toothpastes to all patients during the same time period with the aim to improve the oral health of the Community.

The Sports Week 2023, just like the start, ended in colors as well.
All the classes of MBBS and BDS represented the different cultures of Pakistan on the Cultural Day organized by Student Adventure Society where the
Dances, skits, tableau, and funny mimics were part of day-long activities.
Later, the day was followed by the Carnival in which different students arranged food and game stalls. The rain in the last hours added more shine to this fun-filled student sports week 2023.

The second wing of sports week 2023, arranged by the students Sports Society and Student's Literary Society comprised a Poster Competition, A literary Day having Qirat, Naat, Declamations, and a National Song Competition in which a number of students participated and displayed their talent.
The sports events having the Table Tennis championship, Volley Ball Competition, Football Competition, and Tug of War Followed by Faculty Cricket and Faculty football matches were also part of sports week 2023.

Colors, cheers, fun, laughter, and loads of joy returned to WM&DC with the start of student week 2023, which started on the 10th of July. The Event kicked off with a spectacular and vibrant show from students, representing their classes with specific themes and characters in the opening ceremony of the student week 2023.
The ceremony was followed by the Badminton, Table tennis, and Cricket Championships leading to nail-biting contests, where after the series of victories, heartbreaking defeats, drama, and setbacks to different class teams of MBBS and BDS, the 2nd Year BDS stood victorious in the cricket tournament 2023, defeating the last year cricket champions after an emotional and suspenseful cricket match.

A symposium on the development of study guides for the BDS program was held in the teaching hospital of Women Medical College (Rehmat Memorial Hospital). This was organized by the Department of Dental Education and Research which was facilitated by Dr. M. Abdullah Qazi. Discussion on the standardization of study guides took place with the participation of all dental undergraduate departments. Topics such as constructive alignment, intended learning outcomes, learning and teaching strategies, and assessment were covered.

Quality Enhancement Cell of Women Medical and Dental College successfully conducted a comprehensive external evaluation of the self-assessment report for the BDS program at Women Dental College. Chaired by Dr. Sadia Fatima, Director of KMU IHS Hazara Campus, the evaluation was conducted with diligence on 14 June 2023. Renowned dental experts, Prof. Dr. Abir Hussain, Dr. Asim Qureshi, and Dr. Zeeshan Baig, joined Dr. Sadia Fatima in meticulously scrutinizing the report for an unbiased assessment. The audit considered curriculum, teaching methods, faculty competence, resources, and student support services, aiming to enhance education quality and compliance with standards. This will provide valuable insights and recommendations for improvement. Appreciation to Dr. Abir Hussain, Dr. Asim Qureshi, and Dr. Zeeshan Baig for their expertise. We are confident that this evaluation will drive continuous improvement and provide the best education to our students. Gratitude to all involved for their support and commitment to excellence.

A seminar on Digital Health Care and the usefulness of Hospital Information Management System was organized by the IT and DME Department of WM&DC in Rehmat Memorial Dental Hospital under the chairmanship of Principal Women Dental College, Prof. Dr. Shahid Khan.
The Health Informatics Manager, Dr. Maham Zulfiqar hosted the seminar for all the Staff including Medical Officers and the House Officers of the Hospital, briefing them that how this Information Sytems in Health Care can bring more futuristic outcomes for all.
The seminar was followed by a Q&A session with the audience and their concerns regarding the system already Installed.

Tree Plantation Drive 2023 led by Principal Prof Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi herself and facilitated by the Department of Forest held on 22nd of march 2023. All the classes of MBBS and BDS planted about 1000 trees. The plantation was done at the Forest Depot in Gohar Abad.

Three Days Workshop of QEC at KMU-IHS ABBOTTABAD Campus
Quality Enhancement Cell of Khyber Medical University Peshawar arranged a three-day workshop on “how to write a Self-Assessment Report (SAR) for Program Team members of KMU-affiliated Medical / Dental Colleges” Held from 20th – 22nd March in the Executive Lounge of KMU-IHS Abbottabad from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The day first started with the opening remarks of Director KMU-QEC Dr. Asiya Bukhari and she discussed criteria 1 & 2 in detail, on the second day these criteria were presented by Women Medical and Dental College and Ayub Medical College. Criteria 3 & 4 were discussed on the second day while on the last day, all remaining criteria including surveys were discussed, and at the last, the Vice Chancellor of Ayub Medical College Dr. Umar Farooq was invited for the vote of thanks and as a chief guest of the event following with the closing remarks of Dr. Atif Hussain Vice Principal of Women Medical College and Dr. Faiza Ikram from Ayub Medical College.

Elections in WM&DC 2023💯

The in-house student societies elections were held on the 16th of March,2023.
The extensive campaign carried out amongst the candidates of different societies lasted a week, followed by a voting day on which three different polling stations in three different locations were held for all MBBS and BDS classes. Crowding the polling stations, slogans for favorite candidates, and funny banter with friends was part of the voting day.
We say good luck to all the candidates awaiting results for these elections as the purpose is to empower students to make their decisions for all cocurricular and extracurricular activities.

Quality Enhancement Cell of Women Medical & Dental College arranged a seminar on the “Role of QEC in the Educational Institutes and an overview of Self-Assessment Report” on 1st March 2023 in the Main Auditorium Hall of WMC where Women Dental College and Women Institute of Rehabilitation sciences were also the part of the seminar. The event begin with opening remarks from the Principal Women Medical College, Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi, followed by the remarks of the Principal of Women Dental College, Prof. Dr. Shahid Khan. The distinguished and honorable guest Assistant Professor and incharge Quality Enhancement Cell, COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad campus, Dr. Naveed Iqbal conducted the seminar and elaborated on the functions, procedures and roles of the Quality enhancement cell in an institute. At the end of the seminar, Director Academics & Hospital Affairs, WM&DC, Dr. Qazi Adnan Bashir gave the closing remarks and presented a shield to the facilitator.
