A Grand Iftar Dinner: A Story of Gratitude and Togetherness..
It was the holy month of Ramadan, a time of reflection, gratitude, and unity. At the Department of Psychiatry, Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad, the spirit of Ramadan was in full bloom. The Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Aftab Alam Khan, had a special plan for his team—a grand Iftar dinner to honor their dedication and hard work.
As the sun began to set, the department's faculty, trainee psychiatrists, psychologists, and paramedical staff gathered at a beautifully decorated venue. The tables were adorned with dates, fresh fruit, samosas, and a variety of traditional delicacies. The aroma of biryani and kebabs filled the air, creating an atmosphere of warmth and festivity.
Dr. Aftab stood at the center, greeting each team member personally. His words were filled with appreciation. "Ramadan is a time of reflection and kindness," he said. "Today, I want to express my gratitude to all of you for your dedication to mental health care. Our department is not just a workplace; it's a family."
As the Maghrib Azan echoed, everyone broke their fast together, sharing smiles and prayers. Conversations flowed effortlessly, as colleagues became friends and mentors became inspirations. The junior trainees, feeling honored, listened intently to the stories and wisdom shared by their seniors.
After dinner, Dr. Amin ur Rasheed and Dr. Aamir Mumtaz Khan Swati shared heartfelt words about teamwork and perseverance.
By the end of the night, laughter and warmth filled the air. The Iftar dinner was more than just a meal—it was a celebration of unity, respect, and gratitude. As everyone departed, they carried not just full stomachs but full hearts, reminded that in their noble profession, compassion and camaraderie mattered just as much as expertise.
And so, the tradition of kindness continued, strengthening the bond of the Department of Psychiatry, Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad—a place where leadership was about more than guidance; it was about "family".
