BACKGROUND:
The over all society of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is religious dominated but unfortunately the society does not follow the golden principles of religion due to which facing a number of social evils. These include deprival of heritance in property, honour killing, extremism, gender injustice, discrimination of child rights and social injustice. All these practices have made life very miserable especially of marginalize groups.These menaces are required to be addressed properly and a gigantic effort is required to bring social and behavioral changes in society. The idea of tackling these issues through theatre is not very new. The theatre is a very powerful and effective media to educate and aware the masses. The audience get influenced by the actors playing on the stage, in front of them, in their own language and in accordance with their culture. EXPERIENCE:
Participated in PNCA(Pakistan National Council of Arts) Festival 1994. Performed a play “KALAKAAR” highlighting child adoption, usage of drugs and other social issues. Two theater performances were conducted in coordination with SRSP (Sarhad Rural Support Program) to promote and highlight gender justice and encourage provision of share in parental heritance at Tehsil Balakot in 2011. Raised funds in collaboration with Disaster Risk Management Reduction (NGO) through street theatre for the rehabilitation of Dadar flood affectees in 1999 and raised awareness among educated masses regarding disaster preparedness and ecological preservations. Played a theatrical performance in coordination with Helping Hand (NGO) for raising awareness on the issues faced by disabled persons of the society at the occasion of World Disabled Day on 3 Dec 2012. Played a theatrical performance “TEEN AURTAIN TEEN KAHANIAN” about women rights and gender justice at Lahore in October 2011. Played a performance on the occasion of Children Universal Day at Shah Latif Bhittai Auditorium Islamabad in November 2011. A theatrical performance displayed at Alpine Hotel in coordination with World Vision Abbottabad on November 20, 2012 on the occasion of Children Universal Day to promote Mother and Child health care. Recently worked with SCSP (Sahara Community Support Program) to promote awareness regarding newly passed acts i.e RTI (Right to Information) and RTS (Right to Services). Special emphasis was laid on ways and means to create Youth Forums and their effective utilization for benefits of general public.
