Most of the females in the country esp. KP (NWFP) are denied higher education, especially professional education due to their disliking for coeducation for one reason or the other. The need for educating such a population was seriously realized and the Professional Education Promotion Society materialized the opportunity to be offered to females interested in medical education in the form of bringing up a Women Medical and Dental College for females only. Their successful endeavor to gather the best-known teaching faculty from all over the country is self-explanatory of their sincere efforts for the promotion of professional education in the country in general and in the province of KP (NWFP) in particular. Women Medical and Dental College is the 1st medical college in the private sector reserved for female education is flourishing with the untiring efforts of the member of the Board of Management and administrative staff besides the dedicated and scrupulously diligent efforts of the teaching staff whose motto is “Professional education with devotion and dedication in a center “Par Excellence” Endless efforts are in progress for the ultimate goal i.e. Development of 1st women university in the province for female education only. On the 2nd day of the conference, 31st August 2025, we were privileged to welcome Dr. Wajiha Rizwan (Additional Director QEC, University of Child Health Sciences Lahore | Visiting Professor of Pediatrics, University of Lahore | President, Medical Women’s Association of Pakistan) as a distinguished speaker. She presented on the topic:
“Community-Based Medical Education as a Catalyst for Strengthening Healthcare: A Hub and Spoke Partnership Model.”
Her engaging talk emphasized the importance of integrating postgraduate residency training with primary healthcare services to better address real community health challenges. She proposed a hub and spoke model, where tertiary hospitals serve as academic hubs and peripheral healthcare centers function as training spokes.
Through this approach, postgraduate residents gain vital exposure to community health needs, while peripheral centers benefit from academic integration, research, and collaboration. The ultimate goal: to improve community health outcomes, reduce unnecessary referrals, and create a socially accountable medical education system.

On the 3rd day of the conference, 31st August 2025, we were honored to welcome Dr. Tariq Siraj Qazi (Principal Jinnah College of Nursing Abbottabad) as a distinguished speaker. He presented on the topic:
“Bridging Education and Practice: A Nursing Perspective on Academic–Clinical Partnership.”
His insightful session highlighted the importance of academic–clinical collaboration in nursing, focusing on bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. Dr. Tariq Siraj Qazi discussed challenges such as limited clinical supervision, overcrowded hospitals, and inconsistent evaluation systems in Pakistan’s nursing education and practice.
He emphasized solutions through structured collaborations, preceptor training, and joint research initiatives, aiming to strengthen nursing competence and improve patient care. On the 2nd day of the conference, 31st August 2025, we had the honor of welcoming Prof. Dr. Irfan-ud-Din Khattak (Professor of Surgery, Abbottabad International Medical College) as a distinguished speaker. He delivered a powerful session on the topic:
“Are We Doing Enough for Our Patients in a System with Limits?”
His thought-provoking talk highlighted how ethical dilemmas are inseparable from daily medical practice in resource-limited settings. From scarcity of medicines and weak hospital infrastructure to family pressures, poverty, and fee-for-service models—healthcare professionals face constant challenges that test the principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
Prof. Dr. Khattak emphasized the importance of recognizing these systemic and ethical barriers, urging physicians to reflect on the critical question: In a system with limits, are we truly fulfilling our professional duty as healers and life savers?
His message served as a powerful reminder that acknowledging ethical challenges is the first step toward strengthening trust, compassion, and professionalism in healthcare.

“When Saving One Means Losing Another: Tragic Ethics in Resource-Limited Hospitals.”
Her session addressed the ethical dilemmas of emergency triage, where limited resources force healthcare professionals to make difficult decisions. She explored the principles of autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, and justice, stressing the importance of fairness, transparency, and compassionate communication in patient care.

ICMR’25 Quiz Competition – 30 August 2025

The International Conference on Medical Research (ICMR’25) hosted a Quiz Competition on 30 August 2025 in the Main Auditorium. Moderated by Zaheda Pathan, Fatima Khan, Nayab, and Irej, the event featured 24 teams tested on medical knowledge through rapid-fire rounds, clinical cases, and evidence-based challenges. Judging was led by Prof. Dr. Asma Shaukat, Prof. Dr. Ommaiyya Kalsoom, and Dr. Amber Shami.

Winners: Bilal Ahmad, Abdur Rehman, and Maryam Alam Wazir (1st place). Certificates and prizes were awarded to all position holders, highlighting excellence in collaborative medical knowledge.

Our Story

Women Medical College Abbottabad is situated in the scenic town of Abbottabad about 05 km from the heart of the city off Murree Road. The calm and quiet atmosphere, abundant greenery and cool shades provide congenial and an ideally suitable environment for learning. The college is housed in a historic building commonly known in the city as “HOTI PALACE” which is spread over an area of 50 canals. Almost 60% of the area is covered by the campus building i.e. old and new and the rest 40% is comprising of lush green lawns, garden and playgrounds within the premises for the students under desired strict security measures. The college regularly started its classes in 2000 and gradually started growing in size, according to prescribed rules regulations of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC).
