Condolence Message from Women Medical College Abbottabad – December 2025

Women Medical College Abbottabad deeply mourns the tragic loss of our MBBS graduate, Dr. Wardah Mushtaq (Session 2001-2007). She was kidnapped on 4 December and laid to rest on 8 December. Our heartfelt prayers are with her family.

Dr. Wardah Mushtaq will be missed by the faculty and staff of W.M.C. and her colleagues. She was a brilliant, hard-working doctor. She had completed her residency in Gynae and was working as a medical officer in D.H.Q Baenazeer Hospital, Abbottabad.

December is also observed as International Orange Day – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. In light of this, we urge everyone to prioritize personal safety and be mindful in all relationships and friendships. Stay vigilant, stay safe.

On 4 December 2025, Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi (Principal WMC) and Prof. Dr. Shahid Khan (Principal WDC) organised a special ceremony to honour all the staff members whose hard work and dedication made our convocation a great success.

Their efforts were recognised with prizes and certificates as a token of appreciation.

We were honoured to have Director Transport Mr. Asif Khan Jadoon as our chief guest, who appreciated everyone’s contribution.

He also presented certificates and prizes to our principals and praised their exceptional leadership, reminding us that this success was only possible because of their guidance.

Principal WMC Honored at International Public Health Conference in Lahore – 28–30 November 2025

Principal Women Medical College Abbottabad Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi attended as Guest of Honour at the Institute of Public Health Lahore’s International Conference "Bridging gaps in sustainable development and global health security through collaboration, innovation and resilience."

Dean, Institute of Public Health Lahore, presented a commemorative shield to Principal Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi in recognition of her contributions. The conference, held in collaboration with WHO, UK Health Security Agency, and Jhpiego, convened global leaders, policymakers, and researchers from 28–30 November 2025.

QEC KMU Quality Award Ceremony – Women Medical College Achieves 1st Position

QEC KMU organized the Quality Award Ceremony on 27 November 2025, where Women Medical College once again secured 1st position across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking the third time we have achieved this honor.

The award was presented by Captain (R) Mr. Kamran Khan Afridi, Secretary HED KP, along with Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University.

WMC Achieves First Position in KMU Quality Enhancement Targets 2024-2025 – 27 November 2025

Women Medical College Abbottabad secured first position in Khyber Medical University's Annual Quality Enhancement Targets 2024-2025. Captain (R) Mr. Kamran Khan Afridi, Secretary HED KP, along with Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University presented the institutional shield to Principal WMC Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi.

Special recognition to Mr. Wadeed ul Jannan, Miss Ravish, and Miss Javeria for their dedicated efforts in achieving this honor.

WMC Hosts "Orange the World: End Violence Against Women" Seminar – 11 November 2025

Women Medical College Abbottabad successfully conducted the "Orange the World: End Violence Against Women" seminar on 11 November 2025 at the WIL/WIRS Auditorium.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Madam Azka, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Guest of Honour Madam Komal Yunas, Member of the K.P Commission on the Status of Women.

The seminar, organized in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club of Mushkpuri & Abbottabad, Pakistan Medical Association, and Medical Women Association of Pakistan, featured two key sessions:
1. "From Awareness to Action: Ending domestic violence in our homes and communities" by Anam Jamil & Ayesha Anam

2. "Empower, Educate and End Abuse: A call to action against domestic violence" by Anam Jamil & Ayesha Anam

Addresses were delivered by Madam Komal Yunas, Madam Azka, and Principal (WMC) Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi.
