Most of the females in the country esp. KP (NWFP) are denied higher education, especially professional education due to their disliking for coeducation for one reason or the other. The need for educating such a population was seriously realized and the Professional Education Promotion Society materialized the opportunity to be offered to females interested in medical education in the form of bringing up a Women Medical and Dental College for females only. Their successful endeavor to gather the best-known teaching faculty from all over the country is self-explanatory of their sincere efforts for the promotion of professional education in the country in general and in the province of KP (NWFP) in particular. Women Medical and Dental College is the 1st medical college in the private sector reserved for female education is flourishing with the untiring efforts of the member of the Board of Management and administrative staff besides the dedicated and scrupulously diligent efforts of the teaching staff whose motto is “Professional education with devotion and dedication in a center “Par Excellence” Endless efforts are in progress for the ultimate goal i.e. Development of 1st women university in the province for female education only. Women Medical College Abbottabad proudly congratulates Dr. Nargis Bibi, daughter of Mr. Ghulam Jaffar, on passing the prestigious Australian Medical Council (AMC) Part 1 Examination held on 10 October 2025. A 2023 graduate, Dr. Nargis scored 286/500 after completing her house job at DHQ Hospital Abbottabad in 2024.

Hailing from FATA, her journey exemplifies perseverance and dedication to medical excellence. WMC celebrates her achievement as she prepares for advanced medical training in New Zealand.

Abdullah Qazi, Head of the Department of Dental Education & Research (DDE&R), along with Dr. Dur e Saman (DDE&R), Miss Mehwish (Exam Controller), Miss Sania Shoaib (Clinical Psychologist), and Mr. Yasir (Office Attendant), attended the International Conference on Future of Healthcare (FHCC 2025) and participated in the Hands-on Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Instrument Development held in Islamabad on 30th & 31st October 2025.

Lahore, October 28, 2025 — The Medical Women’s Association of Pakistan (MWAP) marked its second anniversary with a vibrant celebration held at The Children’s Hospital, Lahore, bringing together distinguished professionals from the medical and academic community.
The event, organized by the Executive Committee of MWAP, was graced by the presence of the Pro Vice Chancellor and Managing Director of UCHS as Guests of Honor.
Dr. Wajiha Rizwan, President of MWAP, opened the ceremony by sharing the association’s vision and mission, reflecting on its remarkable growth and achievements over the past two years. She emphasized MWAP’s commitment to empowering women in medicine and advancing healthcare equity across Pakistan.

Senior Vice Presidents Prof. Shamsa Humayun,Prof. Mehwish Arooj also addressed the gathering, highlighting key initiatives, milestones, and the expanding impact of the association. Other eminent speakers included Prof. Nabila Talat, Prof Saira Afzal and Prof. Nazish Imran, who lauded MWAP’s contributions to professional development and advocacy for women in healthcare.
The event saw participation from several leading professionals, including Prof Tayyeba Waseem, Prof Ayesha Humayun, Prof Noreen Akmal and Prof. Salma Aslam Kundi ( Principal Women Medical College and Director MWAP KPK).
A cake-cutting ceremony added a festive touch to the proceedings, symbolizing MWAP’s continued unity and progress.

Community Dentistry Awareness Camp Report – 28th October 2025

The Department of Community Dentistry, Women Dental College Abbottabad, organized a Dental Health Awareness Camp at Roots International School & College, Abbottabad, on 28th October 2025.

The camp, arranged by Dr. Imran Shah (Head of Department, Operative Dentistry), aimed to promote oral health awareness and preventive dental care among students.

The team — Dr. Samreen Rehman, Dr. Zara Khan (Lecturers, Community Dentistry), Dr. Zainab (Medical Officer, Operative Dentistry), and Lab Assistant Adeel — conducted dental check-ups, oral health education sessions, brushing technique demonstrations, and dietary counseling. Oral hygiene kits were distributed to encourage regular brushing habits.

The activity was well received by students and staff. The department extends gratitude to Dr. Imran Shah and the Roots International School & College administration for their support and cooperation. 🦷

Principal WMC Delivers Breast Cancer Awareness Address at INOR – 11 October 2025

On Saturday, 11 October 2025, Principal Women Medical College Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi visited INOR Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad as the Chief Guest for a Breast Cancer Awareness session. Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi delivered a comprehensive address on breast cancer awareness, highlighting prevention, early detection, and treatment aspects during Pinktober 2025.

Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar – Pinktober 2025 Held at WMC – 8 October 2025

On 8 October 2025, Women Medical College Abbottabad organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar under the Pinktober 2025 initiative in the Main Auditorium from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The session featured expert presentations from oncology and nuclear medicine specialists.

1. Dr. Hajera Jabeen, Senior Medical Officer (Oncology, INOR), delivered a comprehensive talk on "Breast Cancer Treatment in the 21st Century: Myths, Facts and Evidence-Based Practice."

2. Dr. Ridda Batool, Medical Officer (Nuclear Medicine, INOR), addressed "Detection and Screening of Breast Cancer: A Comprehensive Approach."

Principal WMC Prof. Dr. Salma Aslam Kundi shared concluding remarks and presented commemorative shields to Dr. Hajera Jabeen and Dr. Ridda Batool. All Final Year MBBS students, staff, and also students from the Women Institute of Learning and Rehabilitation Sciences attended this valuable seminar, enhancing awareness of prevention, early diagnosis, and modern treatment protocols for breast cancer.

Our Story

Women Medical College Abbottabad is situated in the scenic town of Abbottabad about 05 km from the heart of the city off Murree Road. The calm and quiet atmosphere, abundant greenery and cool shades provide congenial and an ideally suitable environment for learning. The college is housed in a historic building commonly known in the city as “HOTI PALACE” which is spread over an area of 50 canals. Almost 60% of the area is covered by the campus building i.e. old and new and the rest 40% is comprising of lush green lawns, garden and playgrounds within the premises for the students under desired strict security measures. The college regularly started its classes in 2000 and gradually started growing in size, according to prescribed rules regulations of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC).
