Visit Report: Hard-to-Reach Areas in UC Korak

Location: UC Korak, Villages: Nondara, Kuch Maradan, Go, Ghareebabad
A team from the Health Department consisting of Mr. Niyaz Ahmad, DSM PPHI, Mr. Mohammad Hanif, M&E Officer EPI, and Mr. Sami Ullah, ComNet, visited the hard-to-reach areas in UC Korak including the villages of Nondara, Kuch Maradan, Go, and Ghareebabad
Key Observations:
- Chronic Refusals in the Area:
- It was reported that the residents of these villages had a history of chronic refusals to vaccination, which had posed significant challenges in past campaigns.
- Successful Mobilization Efforts:
- The team immediately initiated community mobilization efforts in these villages to raise awareness and address concerns related to the vaccination campaign.
- Agreement for Vaccination:
- After extensive mobilization and awareness activities, the community members agreed to vaccination, allowing the BCU team to begin administering vaccines.
- Vaccination of Zero-Dose and Defaulter Children:- As a result of the successful engagement, the team was able to vaccinate a large number of zero-dose children and cover defaulter cases, significantly improving immunization coverage in these hard-to-reach villages.
Conclusion:
The visit to UC Korak proved successful in overcoming chronic refusals, with the team effectively mobilizing the community and securing agreement for vaccination. The BCU team was able to vaccinate a significant number of zero-dose children and defaulters, thus improving immunization coverage in these underserved areas.
