Important Public Health Alert: Heatwave in Punjab

As the scorching summer months continue, it's essential to stay informed about the heatwave situation in Punjab, which is expected to persist until June 13. The government has taken proactive measures to mitigate its effects, with the Chief Minister directing relevant authorities to ensure public safety. Various departments have been instructed to take precautions to minimize the impact of the heatwave.

To stay safe, it's crucial for the public to take necessary precautions. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other fluids, avoid going out during peak heat hours (usually between 11 am and 3 pm), and take care of vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children. Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours to prevent heat exhaustion.

The government has set up helplines to provide assistance to those affected by the heatwave. If you or someone you know is experiencing heat-related distress, don't hesitate to reach out by dialing 1129 or visiting the PDMA website for emergency assistance. Additionally, departments have been instructed to provide shade and water to those in need, demonstrating the government's efforts to provide relief to affected communities.

Let's look out for each other and take care of our vulnerable populations. Stay informed, take necessary precautions, and stay safe.
