Two PhD Scholars of Eastern Medicine Successfully Defend Their Dissertations
The University College of Conventional Medicine, IUB, proudly announces that two of its PhD scholars have successfully defended their dissertations in Eastern Medicine. The open defence was held in the Conference Room at Khawaja Fareed Campus.
Ms. Tahira Shamim presented her research titled "Biochemical Characterization of Medicinal Plants from Cholistan Desert as Potential Anti-Diabetic Lead Pharmacophores." Her work was supervised by Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Asif and Dr. Syeda Abida Ejaz. Dr. Sultan Ayaz, Chairman, Department of Eastern Medicine, Government College University Faisalabad, served as the external examiner for her thesis.
Ms. Farah Zafar defended her dissertation on "Antiinflammatory, Antinociceptive and Anti-lipoxygenase Potential of Selected Medicinal Plants." Her research was supervised by Dr. Ghazala Shaheen and Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Asif, with Dr. Sultan Ayaz also evaluating her work as the external examiner.
The defense session was attended by faculty members and students from the University College of Conventional Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Pharmacy. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Qaiser Jabeen, Dean, Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy.
