🩺 Common Cold — Awareness Message
The common cold is a viral infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory tract.
It is caused by a virus, not bacteria! 💊🚫
---
🔹 Common Symptoms:
🤧 Runny or blocked nose
😷 Sore or scratchy throat
🌡️ Mild fever or chills
😪 Sneezing and coughing
😴 Fatigue or body aches
---
🔹 When Does the Common Cold Occur?
🌬️ During weather changes or cold exposure
🤝 After close contact with an infected person
👐 Through contaminated hands or objects
---
⚠️ Important Note:
Most colds are viral and get better on their own within 5–7 days.
Antibiotics do NOT help! 🚫
Overuse of antibiotics can be harmful:
❗ Causes antibiotic resistance
❗ May lead to stomach problems or allergies
❗ Reduces the effectiveness of future treatments
---
🔹 During a Cold, Take Care:
💧 Drink plenty of fluids
🧂 Gargle with warm salt water
🛌 Get enough rest
🍋 Eat Vitamin C–rich foods (like lemons, oranges)
❄️ Avoid cold foods and drinks
---
💡 Remember:
🩺 Antibiotics are NOT needed for the common cold — rest and fluids are the key to recovery.
🚫 Don’t self-medicate.
✅ If symptoms worsen, consult a doctor.
