Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition in which a hormone made by the placenta prevents the body from using insulin effectively. Glucose builds up in the blood instead of being absorbed by the cells.Besides maternal complications there are alot of dreadfull complications.. starting from cardiac anomalies ,good size baby,polyhydramnios , IUGR,,risk of shoulder dystochia, cord prolapse, placenta abruption , sudden IUD and RDS ,NND to PPD.. it is horrible condition.. puts mother and fetus to alot of stress and morbidity..
I suffered this condition twice while bearing my 2nd and 3rd babies.. By the Will of Allah Swt i have been blessed by the best mentor, Big Brother Oraizi Jafery who not only helped to keep my blood sugars in control but also gave me so much confidence to manage it by my self via telephonic consultations..
Alhamdulilah his Management skills kept away both my babies and me from all the complications.
He is so far the best endocrinologist i ever came across not only manages GDM but also PCOs, Obesity , Infertility and all the hormone problems..
