It helps with calcium absorption, which is essential for bone health. Your body makes Vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight, but you can also get it from certain foods and supplements. There are two main forms of Vitamin D: D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol), with D3 being the form of Vitamin D that is most effective for raising blood levels.
