👁️ About 40% of people have eyes shaped like footballs — and most don’t even know it! Blurry vision? You might be seeing through football-shaped eyes (it’s called astigmatism). And there is a fix. If the world sometimes looks a little blurry or stretched, you might be seeing it through football-shaped lenses. Normally, the eye focuses light evenly onto the retina — like a camera bringing an image into crisp focus. But for about 40% of people, the eye isn’t a perfect sphere. It’s slightly oval, like a football. This condition is called astigmatism, and it happens when the cornea or lens curves unevenly. The result? Blurry or distorted vision, eye strain, headaches, and trouble focusing — especially at night. Astigmatism is common and often genetic, though it can also develop after injury or eye disease. Even kids can have it — and if left uncorrected, it may affect learning or contribute to lazy eye. The best part? It’s easy to fix. Glasses, contact lenses, or laser surgery can all bring the world back into perfect focus. So if you’ve been squinting a little too often lately, it might be time for an eye exam. You could be one of the 40% seeing life through football-shaped eyes.
