“Awareness about mental health lays the groundwork for healthier lives and more resilient communities.”

Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar, Head of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Sciences at Allied Hospitals, PMC, FMU FSD, conducted an engaging session on “Effects of Addiction on Mental Health” during the Mental Health Awareness Session organized at FCCI.

Drawing from his vast clinical experience, he discussed the emotional and psychological consequences of addiction, stressed the significance of timely intervention, and shed light on approaches for prevention, recovery, and overall mental well-being. His talk promoted deeper understanding and awareness regarding the growing mental health and addiction-related challenges faced by society today.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Khadeeja Ishtiaq as Senior Registrar (Psychiatry) in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, FMU,Allied-II Hospital, Faisalabad.

It is a proud moment for our department to welcome back one of our own. Dr. Khadeeja completed her MBBS from Faisalabad Medical University (formerly PMC) and later pursued her postgraduate training in Psychiatry from this very department. Her journey from student to trainee and now Senior Registrar is truly inspiring.

The Department of Psychiatry, Fatima Ward (Allied II Hospital, Faisalabad Medical University), had the honor of hosting a distinguished inspection team from Pakistan Medical and Dental Council on 16 Feb 2026.

The visit was conducted in connection with the recognition of our MD Psychiatry and DPM training programs. The respected team conducted a comprehensive round of the department, reviewing clinical facilities, academic activities, and training infrastructure.

During the session, detailed presentations of progress records, curriculum frameworks, and training portfolios were made by the FCPS, MD, and DPM programs, reflecting the department’s strong commitment to academic excellence and structured postgraduate training.

We remain hopeful that this visit marks a significant step forward toward formal recognition of our programs, further strengthening our role in advancing mental health education and services
