*Commissioner Hyderabad Launches NID February 2026 Polio Campaign Across Hyderabad Division*
*Hyderabad – February 2, 2026:*
In line with the nationwide effort, the National Immunization Days (NID) February 2026 polio campaign was formally launched across all nine districts of the Hyderabad Division, with an inauguration ceremony held at SGH Qasimabad by Hyderabad Commissioner Fayaz Hussain Abbasi. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen Memon and District Health Officer Hyderabad Dr. Pir Ghulam Hussain.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner stated that a target of 2.3 million children across the division will be vaccinated during the seven-day campaign. He warned that the continued presence of poliovirus in environmental samples in Hyderabad is a serious concern and could lead to new cases if strict preventive measures are not maintained.
“The existence of the virus in our surroundings is a clear alarm. We must ensure that every child receives polio drops so that Hyderabad Division can move towards a polio-free future,” he said.
Following the inauguration, the Commissioner held a morning briefing for mobile teams, appreciating their commitment and stressing the importance of reaching every eligible child with two drops of bOPV vaccine.
Morning assemblies and team deployments were also attended and supervised by the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, District Health Officer Hyderabad, both Additional Deputy Commissioners, all Assistant Commissioners, Deputy Director Local Government, Town Municipal Committees officials, and support staff to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign.
Security personnel have been deployed across the division to facilitate vaccination teams and maintain law and order throughout the campaign.
The campaign reflects a coordinated effort by district administration, health authorities, and partner organizations to eliminate polio and safeguard children’s health.
