The Department of Gastroenterology, under the leadership of Dr. Prem Kumar Maheshwari, Associate Professor and Head of Department, organized a CME session on the Role of Rebamipide in Gastritis.

The session was chaired by Dr. Prem Kumar Maheshwari, along with distinguished faculty members including Professor Akbar Memon, Dr. Ehsan Rahim, Dr. Imran Arshad, Dr. Gulam Fareed, Dr. Akram Muneer, Dr. Hafsa, and Dr. Sunil Maheshwari (Assistant Professor of Medicine), who also served as the moderator.

Dr. Rabia Khalid, Postgraduate Trainee, presented illustrative case studies on gastritis and discussed different management strategies, highlighting the clinical applications of Rebamipide in improving gastric mucosal health.

The session concluded with valuable remarks from Dr. Prem Kumar Maheshwari, who emphasized the importance of evidence-based use of Rebamipide along with other therapeutic options in the treatment of gastritis.

On August 21st, the Anaesthesia Department at Isra Hospital organized a comprehensive Surgical Safety Checklist Seminar, serving as a vital platform to elevate clinical standards and foster a culture of excellence.

The program, hosted by Hospital Manager Ms. Mehwish Baloch, began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Shams, which set the tone for the event. This was followed by an insightful presentation from Dr. Mukhtiar Bozdar, who explained the principles and practical application of the checklist, highlighting its role in reducing complications, improving team communication, and saving lives. A dynamic panel discussion then took place with distinguished professionals including Prof: Waseem Memon (Chairperson, Department of Surgery), Dr. Kailash (HOD, LUMHS), and Prof: Gul Fareen, who shared their expertise and perspectives.

The event was further honored by the presence of Dr. Sajjad Kazi, Director of IUH, who emphasized the hospital’s dedication to continuous staff development and quality healthcare. Isra Hospital Holds Provincial Seminar on Promotion of Breastfeeding Practices in Collaboration with RMNCH Program and UNICEF on 26th August 2025

A significant Breastfeeding Awareness Session was held at the Asadullah Kazi Auditorium, Isra University Hospital, on 26th August 2025, in collaboration with the RMNCH Program of the Government of Sindh and UNICEF. The event aimed to highlight the importance of breastfeeding and to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge necessary to support and promote this vital practice.
The session was attended by over 150 participants, including faculty members, postgraduate students (PGs), house officers, undergraduate students, and nursing staff, all of whom were eager to learn and discuss the long-term benefits of breastfeeding for both infants and mothers. The session featured prominent speakers, including Prof. Dr. Yasmin Memon, Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics Isra University Hospital, Col. (Rtd.) Dr. Imran Ahmad, Assistant Professor in Pediatrics Isra University Hospital, and Dr. Kashif Khanzada, Assistant Director of the RMNCH Program, Government of Sindh.
The speakers addressed various facets of breastfeeding, covering topics such as infant nutrition, health benefits, maternal well-being, and strategies to encourage breastfeeding in communities. The event was concluded by “role play” performance by post graduate students with closing remarks by Dr. Sajjad Kazi, Director of Isra University Hospital, who emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between government bodies, healthcare institutions, and international organizations like UNICEF in promoting breastfeeding practices across the country.
This awareness session is part of an ongoing effort by the RMNCH Program, Government of Sindh, and UNICEF to increase breastfeeding rates and support maternal and child health across Pakistan.

The Department of Pulmonology, Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad, successfully hosted the first-ever introduction of ChiesiBot at our institution — an innovative platform by Chiesi Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Chest Society, designed to support patients and caregivers in managing Asthma and COPD.
It mainly focuses on ChiesiBot - A digital healthcare assistant that provides instant, evidence-based guidance on asthma and COPD. It answers patients frequently asked questions, educates on proper inhaler use, clarifies myths, and offers practical tips to improve treatment adherence — helping reduce the burden of chronic respiratory disease.

This program was organized by Dr. Saima Jatoi (Head of Pulmonology & Critical Care) and moderated by Dr. Komal Anwar and Dr. Maham Khan.

The session was graced by our Chief Guest, Dr. Sajjad Kazi (Director, Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad) and joined by Prof. Dr. Adnan Bawany (HOD, Department of Medicine). We are deeply grateful for their support and encouragement.

The event featured an interactive “Myth or Fact” activity on asthma and COPD, followed by an enlightening presentation by Dr. Saima Jatoi on the significance and utility of ChiesiBot in respiratory care.In her insightful presentation, Dr. Saima Jatoi highlighted the urgent need for a platform like ChiesiBot in respiratory care, particularly to counter myths, bridge the awareness gap, and provide reliable support beyond consultation hours. She explained its core features, including patient education, inhaler technique demonstrations, interactive FAQs, and instant access to disease-related information. She also guided the audience on how to operate the application, demonstrating its user-friendly interface that makes accurate information readily available to both patients and healthcare providers.

Our postgraduate residents of Pulmonology—Dr. Siddique Lakho and Dr. Naveed—were introduced and appreciated for their remarkable contributions. Special acknowledgment was also given to Dr. Sindhu and Dr. Allah Diwayo, House Officers whose dedication during their rotations greatly enriched the department.

The session concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, distribution of souvenirs to faculty members, and special acknowledgment gifts for the postgraduate residents and house officers of the Pulmonology Department. The gathering ended on a warm note with refreshments, celebrating not just the launch of ChiesiBot but also the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and the spirit of patient-centered healthcare.

The event featured Tilawat, the National Anthem, an engaging quiz competition with gifts for the winners, a visual tribute to the patriotic heroes, national songs, a balloon-burst pledge activity, and tree comments where everyone wrote heartfelt messages and promises for the well-being of the country all embraced with great enthusiasm by the participants.

Isra University Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations

Isra University Hospital commemorated Pakistan's 78th Independence Day with a series of patriotic events, led by the Worthy Vice-Chancellor of Isra University, Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, and the Director of IUH, Dr. Sajjad Kazi. The festivities were a profound tribute to the nation's independence, cultivating a strong sense of unity and national pride among all attendees.

The celebration commenced with a "Marka e Haq" Unity Walk. Consultants, doctors, employees, and volunteers, all proudly adorned in the national colors of green and white and wearing Pakistan flag badges, gathered at the private wing. They marched in unison to the main hospital garden, holding flags and banners aloft in a powerful demonstration of solidarity.
Following the walk, the Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, addressed the audience. He emphasized the importance of national unity and the value of an independent nation, and paid special tribute to the armed forces for their dedication to protecting Pakistan. The Director of IUH, Dr. Sajjad Kazi, echoed these sentiments in his address, further stressing the necessity of unity for the nation's progress.

The event concluded with a Plantation Drive. Both the Vice-Chancellor and the Director planted saplings, a symbolic gesture of their collective commitment to fostering a "greener, cleaner Pakistan." This initiative highlighted the crucial role of environmental responsibility and served as a lasting tribute to the nation's future.
