While healing there is one rule to remember; YOU ARE A HUMAN.

It’s alright not to be grateful all the time. Often when a person is going through some loss or traumatic experience , people around them encourage the individual to look at the bright side.

Comments like;
“There are people who have it worse than you”,
“Be thankful, the situation could have been worse “, “be positive”,
“look at the bright side” ,
can be very detrimental for an individual’s healing process.

Toxic positivity can hamper the healing process of an individual and can foster into bigger and more complexed problems overtime if it is not dealt with appropriately.

Give yourself time, understand that the process will be different for everyone else and don’t rush things.
Remember, One day at a time!!!

Emotional healing contrary to popular belief isn’t about feeling good all the time or radiating positive vibes. It’s about acceptance and acknowledgment of your emotions including your vulnerabilities.
A healthy emotional healing process includes acceptance of all emotions that you are feeling rather than suppressing or ignoring the negative feelings and celebrating the good ones only.
Grief, anger, resentment,restlessness etc along with many other are emotions that you are going to be facing in your journey of healing.

Stay focused and have realistic understanding about your healing process.
If you are having trouble in understanding and acknowledging the presence of these negative emotions, kindly seek professional help at the earliest.

-Healing Series-

Like we mentioned on yesterday’s post, emotional healing isn’t linear. There will be days when you make good progress and then there will be days where you can make absolutely zero recovery or even might relapse.
It’s very important to understand that there is no fixed timeline on emotional healing. Healing can be different for every human being so it it’s crucial that we have realistic expectations of our healing process.
Always remember;

1) Not to compare your healing progress with anyone else , even if you have been through the same trauma as the other person, there are multifarious factors which are going to effect the pace of your recovery and emotional healing.

2) Have realistic goals. You cannot recover overnight. Give yourself time to heal and do no put a time restriction on your healing.

3) You will have days where you will feel the pain resurfacing. Understand that it’s normal and this is all part of the process.

4) Don’t let anyone invalidate your pain or your feelings. Similarly, don’t allow anyone to pressure you or rush you into speeding up your process of healing.

Healing doesn’t has to be linear and there will be days where fluctuations are expected.

It’s imperative to take into account the apprehensions and reservations of the ones suffering from any sort of emotional turmoil.

The weekend is here. It’s time to unwind and relax. Put all your worries on hold and recharge yourself for the upcoming week. Here are some ways you can destress over the weekend.

-Take a morning walk. Taking a brisk 30-minute walk gives your body and mind a great advantage for the rest of the day. You’ll feel more energized, alert, and clear-headed.

-Watch a funny movie. Get yourself laughing! According to Mayo Clinic, laughter soothes tension in the body, stimulates circulation, and aids in muscle relation – reducing some of the physical symptoms of stress.

-Get outdoors. Spending time in nature is great for your health in more ways than one.

-Unplug. Do not check work emails or social media excessively over the weekend. Unplug , disconnect to reconnect with your actual self.

-Color: Coloring can be very therapeutic for stress relief.

-Get a massage. Massages cause your body to release serotonin and dopamine. These feel-good chemicals trigger feelings of calmness and relaxation.
