Harassment impacts us deeply, causing emotional distress that is often subtle but runs deep. It's like being constantly watched, making us incredibly self-conscious and anxious. Under the relentless spotlight, we struggle to feel safe, constantly on edge, and forced to be extra vigilant. It's exhausting, draining, and unfair. No one should have to live like this. ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜”

Harassment inflicts lasting emotional scars that can take years to heal. Victims doubt themselves, question their worth, and erode their self-confidence. They may start second-guessing our every move, afraid of inviting even more unwanted attention. It's incredibly isolating and demoralizing to live in constant fear.

But why does such incidences impact some of us more then the other? What makes us more vulnerable to such situations? Whatโ€™s the pattern? The string? The deeper wound?

๐ŸŒŸ We had the immense honor of participating in a pivotal workshop on Adolescent to Youth Transition, as per the Youth Policy of AJ&K, an experience that will stay etched in our minds as a significant milestone.

๐ŸŽค Our organization was humbly invited as a Guest Speaker where we had the opportunity to discuss the vital subject of Psycho-Social Support for Adolescents. In a world that often stands divided on many issues, the unity and commitment everyone displayed today gave us hope that indeed, a core focus on the mental and social well-being of our youth is not only necessary, but also achievable.

Personal boundaries are extremely important for the psychosocial health of an individual's healthy physical, emotional, and mental growth. The concept of boundaries pertains to the idea that there lies an invisible boundary between two or more individuals. It also refers to the idea that while an individual is interacting with others, s/he is also conscious of the kind of behaviour/attitude s/he allows in personal life. It assists an individual to become socially independent and responsible for one's own actions, instead of blaming the others/society for something unpleasant. It also alleviates an individual from the psychological pressures where one blames and shames oneself or others for the unpleasant situations.
For example: poor boundaries or lack of boundaries is saying yes in situations where one desires to say no. Being compliant in situations where you cannot be yourself. Being extra nice to people especially loved ones so that they donโ€™t turn away from us, always trying to work around the moods of the significant other etc. On the contrary, a healthy boundary helps boost one's psychosocial health and an individual stands up for one's feelings, beliefs and ideas.
Maintaining boundaries is not an easy job, which is why we often get frustrated in our social and individual lives. Here are a few techniques for you to kick-start your journey towards creating healthy boundaries. First and foremost it's highly important for an individual to get to know oneself. To understand and know one's own limits and toleration threshold. Visualizing and naming your limits is one way of setting boundaries in our social, and personal setting. Another thing that helps is communicating one's boundaries to the others in a clear way. Not to forget boundaries are two-sided. This would mean to respect others' boundaries as much as we want ours to be respected.

๐Ÿšฉ The bournadies are not walls that one builds to survive or to keep others outside one's comfort zone. If your boundaries are making you isolated, it's a RED FLAG.
