Strengthening Adolescent Nutrition through Evidence, Partnerships, and Scalable Solutions
Encouraging outcomes from the SOPRAN Learning Dissemination Event reaffirm the power of integrated, school-based nutrition interventions in improving the health of adolescent girls across Pakistan. Under the leadership of the Benazir Income Support Programme, the SOPRAN pilot demonstrated measurable progress in enhancing nutrition awareness and contributing to the prevention of iron-deficiency anemia in seven districts.
The event was graced by the Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme, Rubina Khalid, along with representatives from the German Embassy, GIZ Pakistan, and the Gates Foundation. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration, evidence-based learning, sustainability, and the roadmap for scaling SOPRAN nationwide by leveraging existing social protection and education systems.
Implemented with technical support from Nutrition International, World Food Programme, and CERP | Evidence Matters, and supported by the Government of Germany and the Gates Foundation through GIZ Pakistan, stands as a strong example of how nutrition awareness, supplementation, and empowerment can be effectively integrated for sustainable impact.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of shields to partner organizations in recognition of their valuable contributions and shared commitment to advancing the health and well-being of adolescent girls in Pakistan.
Alhamdulillah, I, Shafaq Bushra, feel deeply honored to have successfully contributed to the delivery of this impactful and challenging initiative with dedication, precision, and effectiveness under the visionary leadership and guidance of Madam Dr. Shabina Raza, Country Director, Nutrition International Pakistan.
